We had the good fortune of connecting with Keveena Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keveena, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Hmm.. well for me I’d have to say taking those mental days. Like I really take time off from being a business woman, mom, friend, sister, and any other title that I have 6 days out of the week. Wednesdays are my self care days and Ima tell you why, first off because Wednesdays are my favorite day of the week but mostly cause Wednesdays are smack in the middle of the week, its gives the week an even separation. I can take care of everyone and everything 3 days before and 3 days after, it also allows room for adjustment. For example: I may be slammed on Monday and Tuesday but Wednesday all that goes out the window. I like to go for walks, meditate, treat me out, and sometimes I just want to be alone. Then when Thursday comes and I’m ready to take on the load. Really whatever you have to do to get those self care days in do it, you’ll really appreciate yourself in the end.

What should our readers know about your business?
First off let me say this, nothing’s easy when you’re your own backbone. I feel like what sets me apart from others is that I don’t let other people’s opinion reflect me negatively. I have learned to take it in and do what I please with it instead of blowing up about what’s being said. I’m most proud of the fact the I have been able to stay in business for 3 years now even with the EXTREMELY slow days, days with no sales, no shares, no likes all that. I think a lot of things would be easier if we learned to stop being so hard on ourselves and worrying about the next person and how they moving. The way others move may not work for you and your business. I NEED the world to know that LuhPopofKai is here to stay and as long as you stay true to you, you can overcome every obstacle life throws at you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Seeing that my best friend and I already took this trip but it was only for a few days, I’d say we leave home early morning, make a stop or two for snacks, karaoke the whole way there (what’s a road trip without good music), definitely stop and get food closer to our destination, when we make it there we’ll site see before check in. After we get checked in explore the hotel, by that time its time for a wardrobe change, dinner is always our go to the first night we’re out of town, usually after dinner then we’d walk around the city. Now as for as my hometown, Saint Louis, I can say that there are still many, many places and things I haven’t done or seen. I’m really hoping to get to The Aquarium soon. But The Arch is a pretty neat place to visit here, there’s a museum on the lower level and there’s a ride inside that’ll take you to the top and you can see downtown.

For me I like to go with the flow, until we get there. Once we make it that’s when we look up places to go and hang out simply because we may not make it at the time we thought we would, so it saves us a lot of headaches and disappointments lol.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I can’t do NOTHING without my babies Kortez and Kameron, without them I wouldn’t have the motivation to keep going. I have me to thank for waking up and getting to it. Also my best friend and makeup artist Lanae Daniels, of BabyLuvBeauty LLC, deserves her flowers here, this woman is one of a kind and has really kept me on my toes about LuhPopofKai. Any new idea or venture I had she was on board telling me, “You wont know til you try it!” THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THAANNK YOOOU!!!!
