Meet Kenyatta Victoria: Cross-topic Journalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenyatta Victoria and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kenyatta, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I always loved the aspect of storytelling and giving a voice to those who did not have one because I used to feel like that at one point. Writing had always been an outlet for me to do and say whatever I wanted unapologetically. As a writer, I feel responsible for telling stories fearlessly because you never know who you will touch or inspire. I knew that becoming a writer was on my life path because of the joy and happiness that I felt every time I would see one of my stories published.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is that I am truly the embodiment of my slogan “create your own impact” because I used to be the person to sit and wonder why certain opportunities did not fall into my lap. Still, the truth is you have to create your own opportunities, and then the rest will fall into place.
I’m most excited about my new venture, creating my own magazine called “Impact Mag” because it started as just a project for school. Still, thanks to my Holy Trinity for the confident push, it turned into something more, and now this is like my baby, and I can’t wait for everyone to read it!
I think I got to where I am professionally by simply believing in my talent because I’ve always known that I was a great writer, but it took some time for me to actually understand that this was a gift from God, and I should be proud of it. It definitely was not easy because I spent a lot of time battling with myself and whether I was serious about pursuing my passion. Still, I overcame that by praying, manifesting, and visualizing the life that I know God had in store for me, happiness and success.
Through this journey, I’ve learned that the statement “just believe in yourself” is really true because once you start to carry yourself like you already won, that is when things start to come to fruition. I want the world to know about myself and my brand because I am all about creating stories that last a lifetime and inspire those who come after me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Going to Clark Atlanta University definitely allowed me to explore the city more and find so many hidden gems that the city has. I would definitely start with BQE Lounge for food because first, it’s Black Owned, which is always a plus, and second, they have AMAZING food from the chicken, red velvet waffles, and sweet potato tots. It’s like heaven. If you want to hang out and explore, I definitely recommend Little Five Points because you could have your own adventure and meet some of the most talented creatives.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I could thank so many people, but I would absolutely have to thank my parents and my sister because they always believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. They’re always supportive and so proud whenever I’ve made an accomplishment, and that is what makes me happier than anything in the world. Along with my family, I want to thank everyone who has ever supported me, whether through likes, comments, interviews, etc., because those are the people who want to see me win.
