We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendria Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendria, how does your business help the community?
Presently, I am actively engaged in various community and professional roles. I currently sit on the board of a non-profit organization, Communities In Schools Dallas Region (CISDR), which operates with a budget of 10 million dollars. In this capacity, I provide training to the frontline staff, aiming to enhance their skills and effectiveness. Additionally, I hold positions on the boards of both my alumni association and the Black Alumni Network Chapter at the University of North Texas. Within the Junior League of Arlington, I serve as the Sustaining Chair of Education, and I serve as a Learning Specialist for The Association of Junior Leagues International, where I get a chance to train over 900 different leagues. Furthermore, I am involved in delivering educational training to students through Junior Achievement, and fundraising for Dress for Success Dallas Ft. Worth.

Social responsibility has always been a core value for me, and as a business owner, it has become even more critical. Giving back to the communities where I operate is a central aspect of my mission. Through training and support for frontline staff serving underserved communities, I aim to build their resilience and empower them to deliver better services by ensuring they take care of themselves. I provide a service that many non-profits neglect due to budgetary constraints. I provide professional development for their frontline staff, who often work tirelessly without adequate training. My firsthand experience in the non-profit sector has highlighted this need, and I am determined to address it.
One of my exciting projects involves hosting a “Check-In” Conference. This event would offer a full day of free training for frontline staff and mid-level leaders from non-profits, government agencies, fire stations, police forces, and workforce organizations. I plan to secure sponsors to cover the costs of the conference, including lunches, swag bags, and co-facilitators to assist with training delivery. This initiative not only expands the reach of my business but also generates revenue, potentially leading to an annual conference that my clients and donors will eagerly support.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

Apart from the invaluable lessons instilled by my exceptional parents, who cultivated my business acumen, ethics, and etiquette since I was five, my journey in entrepreneurship presented continual learning opportunities. Throughout this path, I encountered remarkable programs tailored for women in business, providing invaluable support, mentorship, and knowledge.

The initial challenge that profoundly shaped my business trajectory was the Cornell University Women in Entrepreneurship Certification. This program laid the essential groundwork for my enterprise, equipping me with foundational skills.

Subsequently, the Nasdaq Milestones Circle program offered a focused approach, allowing me to concentrate intensely on a singular aspect crucial for my business’s growth. The insights gained from this program have proven instrumental in advancing my business endeavors.

However, it was the Goldman Sachs 10ksb (10,000 Small Business) program at Dallas College that left the most profound impact. Comparable to obtaining a business degree from Babson College, this program not only enhanced my leadership capabilities but also streamlined my business operations. As a result, my company has witnessed substantial year-to-year revenue growth, directly attributable to the transformative effects of this program.
