We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendree and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendree, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks is the essential factor of life. Without risk, there is no reward. Betting on yourself and your ideas can be really intimidating, but you have to believe in yourself, and trust in yourself and your ideas. If you’re authentically yourself, and show up that way, you will find your audience and find your success. I think taking risks has shown me a whole new world I would have never experienced if I let fear and doubt keep me from starting.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Creativity has always been really important to me. Art isn’t always the easiest to put out to the world, because you don’t know how they’re going to perceive it, and I think that’s the scariest part. You have to do it anyway, though, even though people won’t always like it. That’s how you learn, grow, and find your audience. Along the way, as you start to find your audience, you will also find professionals you can connect with that enjoy your work, who are potentially more established than you. When you connect with these people, be meek, be humble, be willing to learn. If you can take their advice, they can help you to grow into the professional you want to be and present opportunities you didn’t know existed. Something the world doesn’t know about me is I’m pivoting into making music, and that’s the beauty of creativity, you can always be trying new things.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot in the city, by far, is Del Bar in Inman Park. It’s a restaurant and bar with Middle Eastern food that’s to DIE for! My best friends and I love to stop by Inman Perk and get a coffee, walk the beltline and head to Del Bar. We also really love Fudo for Japanese food, the Lychee Martini is incredible there. I’m not even kidding, I think about it every time I go for cocktails. My friends and I are big foodies, so we like to go to a lot of restaurants. A couple other favorites are Taqueria Del Sol and, of course, Jeni’s Ice Cream.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My sister, Emily, is one of my biggest supporters and always has been. She encouraged me from the start, gave me pep talks every time I wanted to give up, and was there for me every step of the way. It’s so important to have a village of people you surround yourself with to bounce ideas off of, encourage you, and remind you why you started. I’m so thankful for my village, but especially for my sister who always told me to release my fear and do it anyway.
