We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendall Kineard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendall, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My family recently moved to a new place and the demands of my new job as a physical therapist was putting a strain on my mental health as well as my relationship with my family. I began researching how to start my own business, and I came across a podcast about franchises. It gave several examples of different types of franchises, one being a franchise that helps people find the right living environment for their aging loved one. This touched my heart strings because I had been working for several years in home health. I would see people on a regular basis that were unable to care for themselves or were lonely from being isolated from society, and they had no idea how to navigate finding a place that fit what they needed and could afford. So, I scheduled a call with a franchise consultant and the rest is history!

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a physical therapist by trade that saw a need in our senior community through my work as a home health therapist. I had several patients who had trouble caring for themselves or were isolated from the community because they were unable to get out of their home. I came across this franchise and thought it was an answer to a growing need in our society. The transition from working full time to owning my own business has been a growing and stretching process. Each week brings it owns challenges and self doubts, but I have definitely learned a lot about myself and met some really great people along the way. I came into this franchise to serve others. Assisted Living Locators is a no cost service for families to help ease the decision making and transition of finding the right care for those who are unable to live at home. We meet one on one with families, schedule tours of the communities, and follow the client after they have transitioned into a new place. This is a hard decision to make for families, and I hope to make it as simple and stress-free as possible.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Anything UGA sports of course! Here in Watkinsville we have Wire Park which has a local brewery, South Main Brewery, several restaurants, Bird Dawg Boutique which offers local sports gear and home decor, Best Level Basketball and the Yard for your kids’ sports interests, a place to work out and grab a protein shake, and Woof Gang to spoil your pup. They have several events each weekend where you can come and make a day of it. The Pine Bar has great appetizers and drinks! My kids love Groove Burger. We also love Martino’s Italian Restaurant in Watkinsville. Elliano’s in Athens is my favorite coffee place! If you love musicals/plays, the Classic Center has a great line-up. We are also getting a hockey team!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God gets me through each day when self doubt starts creeping in. Meg Schmitz is my franchise consultant who helped guide me along the way. My Husband Ryan has been supportive through it all and has gracefully suffered through this life shift…ha! My parents and in-laws have also helped to make this transition run more smoothly.
