We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendal Selmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kendal, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
I believe that the decision to let go and let God has been pivotal to my success. Many people strive to control every aspect of their lives, and I was once among them, often finding myself stressed, discouraged, and anxious about the future. However, relinquishing control and placing my trust in God has transformed my outlook and approach. This shift has enabled me to embrace His plan and trust His process, which has taught me invaluable lessons in patience and resilience. As a result, Alisha Rena Beauty Bar has flourished, becoming a highly successful business in the hair industry.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of Alisha Rena Beauty Bar where I offer excellent hair services and also the owner of Velvet Kiss Extensions where I sell luxury hair extensions.
The thing that sets me apart from other people in my industry is not just my ability to do hair but the level of love, respect and customer service I offer to my clients.
The thing that I am most proud about is just being able to grant my clients with confidence while being able to give them a luxury experience. I am also most proud of the people I have met along the way building a family and friend bond with my clients without them disrespecting my business in any way fills me with so much joy and gratefulness. That is why I believe I have gotten as far as I have in this business.
I do not believe that it was hard either. I believe that you attract the people that you are. So, just being myself, respectful and genuine has made this process much easier for me to grow.
One thing that I would love people to know about me and my brand is that I am committed to excellence and as my motto says I’m committed to raising the bar to beauty !
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend to come and visit for the week this would be our todo list.
Being that my friend just got here Monday I would start off with something light like going to a drive in movie theater and having my car loaded with snacks and popcorn.
Tuesday I would take her to one of my favorite nature spots called amicalola falls which is a nature hike that shows off Georgia’s best waterfalls. Wednesday would be our spa day just relaxing and catching up with each other. Thursday we definitely would have to go to seafood and karaoke in Atlanta. Friday I would more than likely go shopping at the mall preparing ourselves for the night life of Atlanta Friday night. Saturday we could meet up with friends and plan a friend game night. Lastly on Sunday I would go out on a picnic with her while we sip and paint to end the week off on a relaxing note.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a heartfelt shout-out to my family and friends, whose unwavering support and encouragement have been instrumental in my journey. A special thank you to Nuk, the salon owner of the very first salon where I worked. Your belief in me and the opportunity to work at your shop taught me invaluable lessons and skills that have shaped my career in this industry. Thank you all for being such an essential part of my success!
