We had the good fortune of connecting with Kemi Peterside and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kemi, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m originally from Nigeria, and my background has played a huge role in shaping who I am today. Growing up in a culturally rich and diverse environment taught me resilience, adaptability, and the value of hard work. My family instilled in me a strong sense of community and empathy, which influenced my passion for healthcare and helping others. Moving to the U.S. brought new challenges, but it strengthened my determination to pursue my goals and appreciate different perspectives, all of which have made me a more compassionate and driven person.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art, or rather my work, centers on inspiring others through a mix of storytelling, healthcare humor, and motivation. What sets me apart is my ability to connect real-life experiences, especially as someone navigating the worlds of healthcare, education, and motherhood with an honest and transparent approach. I’m most proud of being able to balance these aspects of my life while creating content that resonates with others, especially those in similar journeys.
Getting to where I am today has been anything but easy. Moving to a new country, adapting to a different culture, and pursuing a demanding career in healthcare while raising a family has tested me in ways I never imagined. I’ve encountered moments that tested my determination, but I stayed committed and kept pushing ahead. I overcame these challenges by relying on my support system, staying dedicated to my goals, and reminding myself of the purpose behind my journey.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that growth comes from discomfort. Every challenge has pushed me to become stronger and more resourceful. I want the world to know that my story is built on resilience and purpose. Through my work, I hope to inspire others to believe in themselves, chase their dreams, and understand that their unique story has the power to impact others in meaningful ways. My brand is all about showing that success is a journey, not a destination, and embracing every part of it even the messy ones.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d keep the itinerary simple yet meaningful. We’d start the week at home, catching up over some homemade Nigerian dishes like jollof rice, plantain, and suya. Midweek, we would go for a relaxing walk on the BeltLine soaking in the scenery and checking out the street art. Along the way, we could stop at Ponce City Market for some shopping and grab a bite at one of its unique eateries. For dinner, we’d visit some authentic Nigerian restaurants in the area for a taste of home. Toward the end of the week, I’d suggest a cultural outing followed by a quiet evening at home, watching movies and sharing stories. The focus would be on creating a mix of relaxing experiences while still making special memories.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! My shoutout goes to my family, whose unwavering support and guidance have been my foundation. They taught me the importance of hard work, perseverance, and compassion that guide me every day. I’d also like to recognize the incredible mentors I’ve had throughout my journey, both in education and healthcare. Their encouragement and belief in my potential have been transformative. Lastly, a big shoutout to my close friends and online community. They’ve been my constant cheerleaders, a source of encouragement, and a major inspiration to keep pushing forward.
