We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelsey Vieira and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelsey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
KRVATURE has always been a part of me—it actually began in college as a fashion and styling blog. The name stuck because it’s derived from my initials, KRV, and it’s always felt personal and unique. Fast forward to the pandemic, like most people, I found myself with a lot of time to reflect and get creative. I’ve always been a hands-on person, someone who loves crafting and turning nothing into something.

One day, I started experimenting with old denim scraps I found in my closet and made my first pair of patchwork jeans. They weren’t sewn together—just glued! But I absolutely loved the result. As a taller woman (I’m 5’10”), finding pants that were cool and fit well has always been a struggle, so creating something that finally felt right for me was empowering.

KRVATURE has always been about embracing individuality. Growing up, I often felt misunderstood, like I didn’t fit into the mold, so I channeled those feelings into my designs. When I wore those first jeans, they resonated with people. I started getting compliments and questions about where they were from, and soon people were asking me to make custom pairs for them. That’s when I realized I had something special, and the brand was officially born.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is deeply personal, a reflection of my journey to embrace individuality. KRVATURE is all about celebrating boldness, rebellion, and what I call the “alien lifestyle.” It’s for those who feel misunderstood or out of place, encouraging them to find power in their uniqueness. This is embodied by KRVY, the orange alien who represents the heart of the brand—a symbol of creativity, self-expression, and standing out.

What sets my work apart is the storytelling and craftsmanship behind each piece. It started with my first pair of patchwork jeans, made from old scraps during the pandemic, and grew into a mission to create wearable art that empowers others. KRVATURE isn’t just a brand—it’s a community for those who reject conformity and embrace their authentic selves.

Getting here wasn’t easy, but I’ve learned that authenticity resonates. Each handmade, sustainable piece is designed to tell a story and inspire individuality. Through KRVATURE, I want to show the world that being different isn’t just okay—it’s where your strength and creativity thrive.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is such a diverse city, not only in its people but also in the variety of activities it offers. I’d start by showing my best friend a side of Atlanta that’s often underrated—the nature. A morning hike or walk on the BeltLine is the perfect way to begin. People often think cities can’t have natural beauty, but Atlanta is truly “the city among the trees,” with beautiful greenery and rolling hills.

Afterward, we’d grab some of my favorite matcha—either from Café Comma or Wave 3 Coffee. Both spots serve incredible drinks and have such a cozy vibe. Then, we’d dive into the city’s vibrant art scene with a visit to the High Museum of Art or ABV Gallery. Atlanta’s creative community is inspiring, filled with so much talent and energy.

Of course, we’d have to indulge in some of my favorite food spots. I’d take them to Little Bangkok for some amazing Thai food and Purnima Bangladeshi Restaurant for authentic and flavorful dishes.

Throughout the week, we’d mix it up with a blend of cultural experiences, great eats, and the best of what Atlanta has to offer—nature, art, and food. This city is so full of life that it’s impossible not to have the best time here!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family as a whole has played such a huge role in shaping who I am, but I want to give a special shoutout to my dad. He has always been my biggest supporter, especially when it came to my creative side. From a young age, he encouraged me to think outside the box. He was the first to help bring my wacky school project ideas to life, whether it was paper mâché, making slime (a personal favorite), or any other craft I wanted to explore.

My dad also nurtured my curiosity about the world. He taught me to ask questions and to seek out the “why” behind everything, which shaped my perspective as a designer and creator. He also instilled in me a deep respect for nature and the natural order of things. Watching how kind and gentle he was with animals, his mother, my mom, and my brother and I left a lasting impression on me.

His unique worldview inspires me to approach life and my work with the same sense of curiosity, creativity, and kindness. It’s a perspective I carry with me every day, and I owe a lot of who I am and what I create to his influence.
