We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I have to make is moving from Chicago to Atlanta. The reason why I say that is because I do not know anything about Atlanta but I am putting myself, my family, and my business in God’s hands, and I am walking by faith.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business name is Kay Kay’s Kollection LLC and with my business is I have an online site where I sell hair, lipgloss, and hair products. What sets me different from others is that I am Kay Kay and I made things happen. Right now I have a small business but it will soon be big. What I am most excited about myself is that I accomplished things that people did not expect. I used to do hair when I was a teenager but I never pursue to keep it going by going to get to receive my license. So one day I was talking to my spouse and told him I want to go to school to do hair. So he told me okay let’s look for a school. I went to school and while I was in school that’s when I started my business journey. I started selling lashes to lipgloss to hair. I kept telling the people when I get out of school I am going to open up a shop because I was just working for a security firm and I was running the place as if it was my business. So I told myself if I can do this I can open up my own business. I graduated from school in October 2021 and I applied and got approved for my own suite in Waukegan in November 2021. Opened in December 2021. So now I want to grow and take my business to Atlanta and accomplish even more things in this business world. What is easy is doing something you put your mind to. what is challenging for me is and was jumping out here with no help as far as being taught the business way. Everything I learned as far as my business was social media and my best friend google. The lesson I learned along the way is how to budget yourself and there are a lot of people in this world that don’t want to help and uplift you. What I want the world to know about business is that it’s a story behind everyone and in order for you to get there you have to have faith. My business came out of nowhere and I know a lot of people were looking at me stating “since when she started doing hair and she, not a picture or social media type of person”. But guess what I will be that person because I am going to get my business off the ground and I will be in that magazine, or you looking at me on your tv or even become your celebrity stylist or just your influencer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit me in my city for a 7-day trip we will do activities downtown. Monday- Navy Pier doing some catching up
Tuesday- Game night/ Taco Tuesday at the house
Wednesday- Whatever she has in mind
Thursday- Slush Bar in Kenosha
Friday- Chill day
Saturday- Dinner Date at my favorite restaurant Ruth Chris
Sunday- Chill day Sunday Funday dinner and movie
