We had the good fortune of connecting with Keisha Tate and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keisha, why did you pursue a creative career?
I believe I was naturally talented to be an hairstylist. At the age of 12 I started experimenting with hair. I started off doing friends, family, and classmates. After I graduated high school those same people followed to the salon after I got licensed. I discovered my passion early and about 15years later I developed a passion for makeup. I’m also a cosmetology instructor.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well what sets me apart from others in my career is that I’m passionate about what I do. I got where I am today by stepping out on faith and believing in myself. It wasn’t easy of course but I didn’t give up. I had to work through personal struggles but I didn’t let it stop me. I went a through a lot of trauma as a child. I dealt with a lot fear and anxiety. I still pushed through by the grace of God. Some of things I went through made a stronger and wiser person.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to go to Esobar Atlanta. It’s a chill vibe. They have a great atmosphere. The food and drinks are amazing!! My next choice would be Eclipse Di Luna Buckhead. I love the tapas and drinks. It’s a Spanish restaurant. They play live music and it so cute on the inside!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I would like to thank God for blessing me with many talents. Second I would like to shout out my Mom, family, and loved ones for supporting me all these years. Next my mentors Carol Morrow and Melissa Irvine. Last but not least, I want thank every client that has patronized me over the years.
