We had the good fortune of connecting with Keisa Stewart-Rucker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keisa, what principle do you value most?
Community empowerment is the principle that matters most to me. Through my work with Head 2 Toe Magazine & Entertainment, I am dedicated to amplifying Black-owned businesses and fostering a supportive community. We focus on promoting these businesses, increasing their visibility, and creating opportunities for collaboration and mutual support. This not only strengthens the economic foundation of our community but also helps individual business owners thrive. By connecting consumers with Black-owned businesses and highlighting successful entrepreneurs, we inspire the next generation and contribute to the overall growth and prosperity of the Black community. Empowering our community is at the heart of everything we do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work centers around amplifying Black-owned businesses and fostering a supportive community through Head 2 Toe Magazine & Entertainment. What sets us apart is our dedication to increasing the visibility and patronage of these businesses, creating a robust network for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and mutual support. We provide a platform for new and established entrepreneurs to gain exposure through engaging interviews, inspiring success stories, and insightful industry coverage.

I am most proud of how we contribute to the economic empowerment of the Black community. By connecting consumers with Black-owned businesses, we help create jobs, build wealth, and stimulate economic growth. Highlighting successful Black entrepreneurs in various fields, such as hairstyling, barbering, nail technology, and fashion styling, also inspires the next generation of Black entrepreneurs.

My professional journey has been a mix of challenges and triumphs. It wasn’t easy, but my passion for helping others and my dedication to my community kept me going. The biggest challenges were often related to gaining visibility and resources for the businesses we aim to support. Overcoming these challenges involved relentless networking, leveraging social media, and building strong partnerships.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way include the importance of resilience, the power of community, and the necessity of continuous learning and adaptation. Staying updated with the latest trends and strategies in branding and social media has been crucial to our success.

I want the world to know that Head 2 Toe Magazine & Entertainment is more than just a platform; it’s a movement. Our mission is to empower and uplift Black-owned businesses, contributing to the broader goal of economic and social equity. My story and my brand are about creating opportunities, fostering innovation, and building a legacy of success and empowerment for the Black community.

I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Dendrius. We have been together for 28 years and married for 27 years. Throughout our journey, he has been an unwavering source of support and encouragement. Whenever I feel down or want to give up, he motivates me by reminding mef my talents and the impact of my work. His belief in me and my vision has been a driving force behind my success. Dendrius has always been one of my biggest cheerleaders, and I am incredibly grateful for his love and support.
