We had the good fortune of connecting with KC Loesener and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi KC, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I entertained the idea of coaching several years ago when I helped students develop essays and term papers. Later, I noticed that I had a natural knack for problem-solving, and I decided to incorporate it with my passion for writing. When I became published, I eventually started helping others with their own publishing journey.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a published author and freelance writer. I also provide coaching to introverts, aspiring authors, and busy writer moms. I assist them with resources and tools for the publishing process. My program involves mindset, organization, focus/mediation techniques, feedback on writing, and several other pertinent services that put them on the fast track to getting published. Lastly, I am the Kick-Ass Author’s Club founder, a writing community on Instagram for seasoned authors. We learn, share resources, develop, promote, support, and inspire each other. We are the true definition of authors supporting authors. I am most proud of my tribe. Being with like-minded individuals is imperative when you are trying to build and maintain a business. My advice is to anyone in pursuit of a dream is to have a circle of supportive individuals. My biggest challenge was finding my voice and being more active and vocal on social media. If you are an introvert like me, it can be scary and intimidating. If I can do it, so can you. I encourage everyone to step outside of their comfort zone. Being uncomfortable is where you grow and develop as a person and entrepreneur. My brand is reflective of comfort. It is expressive, encouraging, and accountable. It informs others that I am here to help and be your biggest confidant and cheerleader as you navigate your journey as a future author.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am fortunate that I live in the tristate area. So we have three states that we can conquer. We would definitely visit Philly so they could experience a real cheesesteak on South St. At Gino’s Pizza. My bestie and I love museums, so the Philadelphia Art Museum is on our list of places to visit. Next, we would check out Boathouse Row. The lights are so beautiful at night. Then we would have drinks at the Franklin Bar on South 18th St. If we were to hang out all week-long, we would visit a karaoke place or two. Then on to the arcade. We would have to dine at one of the lovely rooftop restaurants in Center City. Assembly Rooftop Lounge and Bok Bar have a gorgeous view of the city skyline. We both love sushi, so there are a few places in Philadelphia and Cherry Hill, NJ, that we could dine at. Zama and Kei Sushi would be our go-to for delicious sushi, sake’, and plum wine. Valanni restaurant downtown is also a must on for places to dine. They have a drink called the “Ex-Boyfriend which is amazing. Lastly, we would visit the Jersey shore or Coney Island for saltwater taffy, snow cones, and funnel cake. We would enjoy the sights, sounds, and the water. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to my incredible friends and colleagues with the Kick-Ass Author’s Club on Instagram. They are a community of talented and dedicated authors that make what I am doing worthwhile.
