We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaylee Murphy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaylee, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand has absolutely been the unwavering support system behind me. After years of creating films for fun and for loved ones, it was the encouragement of my husband, family, and close friends that pushed me to officially launch my videography business, MyLife Media Videography, in 2019. They saw how much I loved videography and believed in the vision before I ever did.

But above all, my faith in Jesus Christ has been the foundation of it all. Every opportunity, every client, every milestone—none of it would be possible without Him. I truly believe He placed this calling in my heart, and I’m simply walking in obedience and purpose. Having people who genuinely believe in me and a Savior who goes before me continues to fuel everything I do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have loved videography for as long as I can remember- long before I ever thought of it as a career. It really started in middle school, where I found joy in documenting everyday life through pictures and video. Preserving memories has always been a passion of mine, and that only grew as I got older. I share this same passion with my mom, and she had a major influence on me as we would play around with photography and videography together.

My first “official” wedding film happened by chance. A family friend asked if I could capture her big day, and I said yes- using a camcorder! Looking back, it’s wild to see how far I’ve come since then.

Along the way, I created slideshows to celebrate milestones or honor loved ones at funerals. Every year, I made an “end of the week” video for my church’s Vacation Bible School, capturing all the fun moments and memories. When our church’s youth group went on trips, I’d make highlight videos showcasing everything we did that week. These projects helped me tell meaningful stories and deepen my love for visual storytelling. In high school, I got to be more hands-on, running the big screen for our brand-new athletic complex and creating highlight reels for sports teams, homecomings, and even my senior class’s graduation video. Those moments helped me realize how much storytelling through film truly meant to me.

Was it easy? Absolutely not. Turning something you love into a business comes with a steep learning curve. I didn’t go to film school or have a blueprint to work from. I had to teach myself, lean into my creativity, and learn how to run a business all at once. Every challenge shaped me and my work. I’ve learned to embrace growth, give myself grace, and never stop learning- because this industry is always evolving.

As I launched my marketing business, KM & Co. Marketing, in 2024, I discovered a new passion for design. I’ve always loved creating scrapbooks online for myself, and partnering with a small marketing company helped me expand my knowledge. Managing social media accounts, learning graphic design, and diving into other brands’ stories gave me fresh insight. I realized I wanted to take my own business in this exciting new direction.

So now, I continue doing wedding videography and filmmaking with MyLife Media Videography while also helping clients with their social media and branding through KM & Co. Marketing. The best part? I get to combine my videography skills with my marketing business.

What sets me apart is how personal this all is to me. I’m not just making a film; I’m capturing moments you can never redo. My approach is laid-back, intentional, and heartfelt. Whether I’m filming a wedding, lifestyle moments, or promotional content, I want people to feel seen and celebrated. I want to tell their story. I’m most proud of the connections I’ve built with my clients and the trust they place in me to document their biggest milestones.

My brand, MyLife Media Videography, reflects that heart. And with KM & Co. Marketing, I get to help business owners share their stories and shine in a whole new way. At the end of the day, I’m here to serve- through creativity, connection, and a whole lot of passion for what I do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a tough one! If my best friend was visiting, and we were keeping things local, we’d definitely spend time in my hometown- Bostwick. It’s where I was raised and where I still live today. It’s a small farming town where my family makes a living—chicken houses, cows, cotton fields—and we run the only cotton gin north of Macon, GA. It means so much to me; there’s even cotton in my MyLife Media logo because of it!

Since my besties have already been here before, we’d soak up all the familiar things- riding around the farm, grabbing chips and salsa from my favorite Mexican spot in a nearby town, getting our nails done, and of course, hitting up TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Or maybe we’d switch it up and try a new restaurant just for fun!

If we were heading out of state, I’d vote for somewhere tropical—maybe a beach getaway or even a trip to Mexico. Give us sunshine, beach days, a little exploring, and good food, and we’re all set.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, I want to dedicate my shoutout to my incredible support system– I mentioned before that they are a major factor in my success. From the moment I started filming just for fun, my family and friends were the ones who saw my passion and talent before I ever thought about turning it into a business. Their constant encouragement gave me the confidence to launch both of my businesses.

My husband, Collin “Bear,” has been my biggest cheerleader- always pushing me to chase my dreams. He also played a part in naming both of my businesses: MyLife Media Videography and KM & Co. Marketing. In the beginning, he even helped me film and traveled with me to every single wedding, offering a helping hand and constant support through it all. And my kids, Hayes, Rilynn Jean, and our newest little love that should be here any day now, Georgie Kaye, inspire me every single day. They are my “why.” Everything I build, I build with them in mind to show them that hard work, faith, and heart can take you far.

My mom, Melanie, also deserves a shoutout. She was a school teacher who had to create videos for her classes and school events. I would sit beside her and watch her edit, learning the process just by observing and absorbing everything she did. She would let me borrow her equipment, and she helped me figure out the answer to any question or hard task. That time with her taught me so much. To this day, we continue to teach each other new things we learn! Above all, I give all glory to Jesus Christ. He’s opened doors, strengthened me in seasons of uncertainty, and continually reminds me that I’m not doing this alone!
