We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayla, what do you attribute your success to?
My most important factor behind my brand is that Kayla’s Krowns is personable and trustworthy because I really enjoy what I do. I started this business as a hobby right out of high school. When I am doing a unit or providing a service for a client, it is like my quiet time, my therapy and I’m in flow. Each unit has its own unique and personal touch. My brand has taught me patience, dedication and life balance.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of my biggest challenge with my business has been work life balance. I am a senior Pre-Med major at Georgia State. It was hard for me to balance out time for my business, school and personal life. Once I figured out a work and school schedule and stuck to it, I have been successfully in both aspects. I think this sets my brand apart because it’s hard work being in college while running a demanding business but my brand worth it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them Ponce City Market Skyline or the Battery Atlanta. Both have great shoppings, game entertainment and great food.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would proudly want to dedicate my shoutout to my mom. My mom, Wilhelmina Bestman is and will forever be my inspiration. She has built and ran her restaurant, Mina’s Kitchen, for over 25+ years since she has moved to the US from Liberia. I grew up in a family business waitressing until I started my own business.
