We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Dennis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayla, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I just knew I wanted the kind of income security that I didn’t have to rely on another person or company for. After being furloughed from my job during the pandemic, it left an uneasy feeling for me. I wanted to create a source of income for myself that nobody could take away.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started my business in 2020 after being furloughed from my job. It was an interesting time for me because I was a new mom, a new wife, and so many changes were coming at me all at once. I had to adjust to a new body, a new schedule, and not being able to work was the icing on the cake for me. It was a pretty low time for me and my confidence overall was shattered.

Starting Exquisite Kitty Lingerie was not only a way to replace my lost income source, but a way to restore my confidence as well. I thought about all of the other women out there who might be experiencing what I was experiencing at the time and my business provided a sense of purpose to me. Helping other women find confidence through my lingerie was that purpose. Exquisite Kitty Lingerie’s platform is used to promote self-love, self-care, mental and physical wellness too. A lot of people had a rough time during the pandemic. People lost family, gained weight, got sick, and navigating that scary time took a toll on people’s overall mental state, myself included. Most lingerie brands promote body positivity or inclusiveness, which is great, but Exquisite Kitty Lingerie wants our customers to look and feel great.

It hasn’t been an easy journey building this brand. Even though my mom lived the entrepreneurial life in front of me my whole life, times are changing rapidly and there’s always something new in the industry or business building to adapt to. I take notes from industry leaders, I keep up with marketing and business gurus, and I take advantage of my business coach as much as possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Griffin, GA is a small town, but we’re growing. We’d have to start with

Breakfast at Gritz

Lunch at Mill Towne gourmet

Ice cream with Mrs. Good Day

Try our luck at Axe throwing with Georgia Axe Company

I’ve wanted to check out celebrity suites jazz lounge for a while now!

And we always have to stop at Happy Daze Bar and Grill for Happy hour The drinks are good, but the food is AMAZING. I haven’t met a grill burger or wings that could compete yet!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom has owned her own businesses for over a decade across different industries. She taught me what entrepreneurship was and showed me the ins and outs of business and customer service. I wouldn’t be the business woman I am today without her example.
