We had the good fortune of connecting with Kay Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kay, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Since day one of me starting my YouTube channel I decided I’d give it my all. It has been plenty of days these past two years where my videos don’t get as many views and I still decide to keep going. I keep going because you never know what’s next & what video may take me to the next level so there is no “giving up” I only see a brighter future for myself & my family therefore I keep it pushing & being myself in the process.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always been the person to quit every job I got so just knowing that I’ve been consistently working towards my actual goals makes me so proud of myself. It’s been days that I’ve thought YouTube wasn’t for me because my views didn’t match my subscriber count or even close to it but then I post a video & it does well. I just stay consistent because I know where I want to be in life & I want to always be known for being my most authentic self while doing it. I’ve had to accept a lot with dealing with this platform but it was easier to do so earlier rather than later, I say that because there’s a lot of trolls & Debby downers on the internet & if you’re weak then it’ll crush your dreams quick. You have to always stay focus & remain humble while chasing your dreams and so far I believe I’ve done just that. It’s not easy but worth every bit of effort that you put into it!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We can go get pedicures & messages, then off to any place that serves mimosas throughout the day with a good food menu as well. We can go thrifting the next day because its military discount day lol then go get food at Luchal’s downtown Colorado Springs. Breakfast the next morning then hang out at a park and talk until leaving to attend wing night. Thursday’s is lady’s night so we can cook at my house then pregame for the nights festivities. Friday we can go to dinner & a hookah bar or smoke hookah at a friends house here with other friends.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my sons & God for being my everyday motivation. Outside of them I’d like to thank my late friend Tashianna Johnson for always believing in me in everything I did. I would think her goals for me were outrageous but now I’ve grown to understand that she just wanted what she saw in me to shine through & she knew I wasn’t living up to my full potential. This motivates me a lot on days when I feel like I just can’t do it, I press on listening to her voice lead the way.
