We had the good fortune of connecting with Katy Weaver and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katy, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always had a passion for cooking and in the early years would always photograph my food (poorly to say the least). I was mostly motivated by my friends and family who always requested recipes I made and would share images on social media.
When I finally took the jump (it took me so long for fear of judgement of others or failure – not cool!) I had no idea what I was getting into, it was solely for the purpose of having a place to house and share realistic recipes for people who are busy but appreciate delicious meals.
This quickly turned into campaigns with brands, which at first was super intimidating, which has now become a career!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
There has been continued growth in my journey, and it’s just beginning! It is rare when people get to monetize on something they are passionate about, I feel lucky to have found that.
Working a full time office job, along with a creative job that takes the discipline of a full time job can be hard. I have learned to give myself grace in relaxing and listening to myself, while also being very structured with my time.
If I do not plan out times outside of my office job to create, life can and has quickly passed by.. this time in my life requires a lot of self motivation and discipline.
If you are questioning jumping into a creative aspect of your life, or any aspect outside of your mundane 8-5, do it! Start small, dream big, don’t get discouraged!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a local to Peachtree City, I am going to keep it a realistic food and drink weekend. It’s a love language, right? Main form of transportation: Golf Cart
Dinner and Drinks: Curious Pig (Against The Grain – total drink of choice, accompanied with their Chimichurri Steak Tacos)
Brunch: Friend’s Table in the Avenue (Meal: Eggs Benedict…. Let’s go with the crab cake!)
Lunch: Palmer’s Patio (Meal: Palmer’s Chopped Salad Drink: A crisp glass of Pinot Grigio or their incredible cocktail Ring of Fire)
Outside of Food & Bev, we would paddle board Lake Peachtree, and then cruise up to Line Creek Brewery for Live Music and their Double IPA – my fav! ‘Kickstand’’
If you’re around on Saturday mornings, my go to is walking or riding up the the Farmer’s Market for live music, donuts, iced coffee, and fresh produce!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friends and family have been the most supportive and pushed me to keep going.
