We had the good fortune of connecting with Katrina Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katrina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was a teenage, single mom and started my salon business on my parent’s back porch. I did not have any money or degree to start my own business. I just knew that I had to do something to provide for my children. I later on broke into the real estate and coaching/speaking industry. I wanted to reach as many women as possible, to let them know that they can start businesses, in spite of what they have been through.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Next Level Coaching Services LLC and Next Level Coach Academy, helps women, that are fearful and confused about their business and life, to gain back their power and create the life that they want and deserve. I set out to help as many women as possible to start their businesses regardless of their financial status or their background. I was a teenage mother of 2 children when I started out in the salon business. I started on my parent’s back porch and then later moved into a salon. After being in the salon for about 6 years, I teamed up with my business partner, which was a former classmate of mine in cosmetology school, and we opened our first salon together as 2 single mothers with little money. We then went on to open 2 other salons. We both ended up breaking into the real estate industry, where we are both are doing well. I later on decided that my mission is to help other women do what we did even though we had some challenges. I have been through being a single mother, abusive relationship, loss of children and struggling to pay the bills. I have made it through all of this and If I can do it anyone can do it. I want to be the woman those women can look at and say, “She has been through what I have been through too and she was able to still be successful. I can do it too.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA, so there are a million places we can go. On Monday, I would take her to Downtown Atlanta, where we could visit the World of Coca- Cola, so that she could experience all the different sodas of the world, including the worst one as well. We would also get a bite to eat at Ted’s Montana Grill. They have a lot of good food and desserts. On Tuesday I would take her to Perimeter Mall for a little shopping because she loves to shop. We would also eat at The Capital Grille , I love their Salmon and the atmosphere is great. Wednesday I would take her to a spa, Jeju spa at that, for a little relaxation. On Thursday, I would take her to visit a few of our friends and kind of hang out. On Friday, I would take her to the Trap Museum. We both want to go just to experience the museum. Saturday would be filled with us hanging out at Atlantic Station and getting a bite to eat at the Yard House in Atlantic Station. As you can tell neither one of us participate in the night life anymore. I think we got all of that out of our system when we were younger. LOL!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my family for believing in me and pushing me to do my best in life always. Also, I would like to thank my coach, Dr. Sonya Stribling for opening my eyes up to all the possibilities that are offered in life and for taking me under her wing and showing me that I can make a difference in this world by helping women create the life they want.
