We had the good fortune of connecting with Katrina Leatherwood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katrina, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from Pensacola , Florida. I come from a long line of bakers and great cooks. In my family you are taught very young how to cook so naturally when I started my business I had tons of free training that started at the age of eight years old. My upbringing impacts my product everyday because I always put tons of love in my orders. I was taught that cooking with love makes everything taste better.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is my drive and passion for my craft. I am completely at peace when I am baking and making treats. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come from where I started. I started off making chocolate covered strawberries, I never imagined creating some of the cakes I have created today. I am where I am today because of the continuous support of my family, customers and friends. It was not easy, I have had several trying situations in my growth as a Baker. Being self taught comes with its own set of issues and set backs but I always get encouraged from family and friends to keep thriving and to keep going. Some of the lessons I have learned are to protect your brand, Always practice good customer service and to take my time. I want the world to know that I am very passionate about my craft and I am learning something new about baking and treat making every day. I try my hardest to perfect my craft and I make strides to improve constantly. I want the world to love L’s Sweet Treats as we strive to “ satisfy a sweet tooth near you”!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was visiting I would take them to a few of Atlanta’s get restaurants and attractions. We would visit fogo de chao, papadeaux, spondivits, juicy crab , ray’s on the River and there’s. New restaurant coming by the name of Good Eatz by chef kool that we would definitely have to visit. I would also take them to the outlets to shop , Stone Mountain park , Piedmont park , the selfie museum, sip and paint and top golf. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would LOVE to dedicate my shout out to all of my customers , supporters and family! Every order, shout out , repost and tag helps my business. I would also like to give a super special shout out to my former co-workers for encouraging me to start my business. I would not be where I am today without them. I would make at least three dozen cupcakes and countless cake pops to work in the morning and would be sold out by the end of the day. The continuous support and push to keep thriving is unmatched.
