We had the good fortune of connecting with Katina Lockhart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katina, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business came from combining my years of working in media with my years of working for attorneys. It’s rare to see attorneys active on social media but it’s an amazing platform that majority of their clients & potential clients use. I had the idea to combine the two industries by providing digital marketing services for private practices & viola! The BL Agency was born!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is unique because I bring to the table not only current & proven digital marketing strategies thanks to over a decade of experience as a media personality, but I also bring my experience as a paralegal. I’ve worked at growing law firms, I understand how busy attorneys are and know what keeps them up at night. I’m excited that I hold the solution to a problem many attorneys never thought they could solve or afford without being a mega firm.
I want the world to know that digital marketing is just the beginning for The BL Agency. The goal is to be a one stop shop for your marketing & branding needs. Media is my passion and I’m so grateful I found a way to share my passion and combine it with another industry I love which is the legal field.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my bestie came in town we’d take a week long tour of black owned restaurants because we love to eat! We’d brunch at The Real Milk & Honey, Atlanta Breakfast Club, Tom Dick & Hank and Cafe Social House. We’d have late lunch or dinner at Negril Atl, Virgils Gullah Kitchen, Slim & Husky’s, Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks, Old Lady Gang, and Slutty Vegan. We’d grab desert from Sublime Doughnuts and iScream Ice Cream Rolls, or go have a drink at the Linnethia Lounge, Boogalou, The Beverly and Blaze Steak & Seafood.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family absolutely deserves a shoutout in my current success & future successes! They have supported me, my ideas and plans (or lack there of) over the years. Support can look different and it’s important to acknowledge that. No, my family didn’t give me thousands of dollars in start up money, but they asked insightful questions about my business plan, they didn’t stress me when I chose to attend a workshop over family gatherings, they frequently told me they were proud of me for pursuing my dreams, and the list goes on and on! If it wasn’t for my amazing support system I wouldn’t be able to do what I love for a living!
