We had the good fortune of connecting with Katiah Byrd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katiah, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
This question automatically makes me smile! When I think about my end goal, my visualizations immediately starts. My name and brand will be known in many homes. I will build the best ‘businesships” that I can build. I will look back at my time spent on this Earth and reflect on how many people I helped and lives I changed. At the end of my career I will feel content, comfortable, peaceful and happy with the legacy that I will pass to the generations after me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When it comes to art, my first love/brand is and will always be photography. I used to do event photography but my heart wasn’t in it. I enjoy and respect all art and photography, but shooting portraiture and landscpaes are my favorite. I love the intimacy part of getting to know my clients and models and having that one and one time to create magic! My photography journey started 5years ago. I attended the Art Institue of Atlanta and graduated from there with a BA of Fine Arts in Digital Photgraphy. Having great teachers and classmates strengthened my love for photography before I finished school. Moving to California amplified everything even further when it came to the camera! The change of scenery re-lit my fire and I didn’t even know it was time to relight it! Haha. Living in California made me feel like I needed to get out of my comfort zone and try some new things. Meet some new people. This was NOT an easy thing to do. I have never cared for the spotlight. It’s fun to be behind the scenes. However, that started to change when I came up with the idea to create a Digital Magazine named Growing Vibrations Magazine. I needed a way to consolidate all of my work under one roof, entertain, meet new people, and make new business connections. It was also another way to show sides of myself that I normally would only share with close friends and family.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A fun week itinerary would be … *Taking a boat ride over to Catilina Island because the scenery is really nice! The overall atmosphere there is high energy and relaxing all at once. We would stay for 2days and return home. *Picking a beach to ride scooters or bikes on the strip while enjoying the breeze. Picking multiple foodtrucks to eat from is a must! What is a trip without great food and fruity drinks?! The night would end with a bonfire, music, and some good Mary Jane! Haha There’s this place in San Diego called Super Natural Sandwhiches that has the best pasta and shrimp bowl. It’s called the Siren Garlic Noodles. It is a hour away from home but I would drive anyone there at anytime just to get that meal! lol I am not a major planner when it comes to fun. I usually like to wing it! I love being spontaneous and being around people who live more on the edge. Even when I’m vibing and feeling tranquil, I still prefer a little spontaneity! So no matter the place, WE WILL HAVE FUN! Somewhere along the way, mini photoshoots are a MUST!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This shoutout is dedicated to every single person that supports me. To everyone that gives me motivating and encouraging words, loves me unconditionally, and pushes me to be a better version of myself, I am grateful and feel blessed to have you all in my life. I love you all!
