Meet Kateryna Hutchens | Owner of Modern Shine Clothing Store

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kateryna Hutchens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kateryna, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Fashion plays an important part in our identity. Ever since I was young, I remember being grossly fascinated with anything that’s shiny and glitters. I’ve always dreamt of creating a clothing line where I can use amazing jewels such as rhinestones to put a spark on even the most mundane clothes. I’ve always believed that great things can be born out of our creativity. When I moved to the US from Europe, I realized there was a lack of suppliers, at least for the dresses and clothes I loved. I searched far and wide, and sadly, there just wasn’t enough. So I decided to bring it here. I love anything with rhinestones, and I was sure that many women would agree. Bolstered by this, I built up the courage and started my online store, Modern Shine Clothing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Right now, I am at the begging of my start-up journey, I have lots of pitfalls, but I am going to go through them slowly and wisely. I decided that I am going to run my business without rush, so every step will be deliberated. The main lesson I have learned along the way is before starting a new business, you have to do deep research, do lots of work and make sure that you have time, money, desire, and passion, and the main that you are making a right choice of picking a type/concentration/niche of the business. As a business owner l’ve been looking for a solution to ensure women have access to high-quality clothing without succumbing to the temptations of fast fashion. I wanted to come up with something that will help women foster their sense of self and express their clothing choices. My goal is to make fashionable, fab, trendy, and high-quality clothing more accessible and affordable. At the center of the mission is the use of Turkish Textile—proclaimed as one of the best in the world. By advocating the use of this exquisite textile, I hope to spark a revolution that procuring high-quality clothes made of strong, long-lasting materials does not have to be expensive. I have gone to great lengths to pick the best clothing that fits the theme of the online store. I decided to use just Premium Quality Cotton material. It is an amazing fabric, ideal for everyday wear, sports, outdoor activities, and extreme tourism. With the help of special technology, our product is incredibly soft and pleasant to the body. Our product is made of dense and pleasant Premium Quality Cotton material, feeling like a second skin, with no irritation or allergy. This makes my clothes natural, and eco-friendly. In addition, the material is hypoallergenic and does not irritate the skin. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Orlando, Florida, it’s one of the most tourist visited cities, I would suggest my friend come in early fall meant that the timing was perfect weather-wise, and it was also a great time to avoid the summer vacation crowds. Orlando is a great city with lots of indoor and outdoor things to do with friends, so I would offer this trip itinerary: 1. Disney World-Everybody knows it’s the best place to go to have lots of fun, no execution I would bring my friend there.
2. Universal Studios Orlando Florida features incredible attractions based on pop-culture icons, TV shows, and blockbuster films.
3. Wekiwa Springs State Park – A very exciting part of our itinerary included kayaking and exploring the crystal-clear waters of Wekiva Springs. With emerald springs feeding the Wekiwa River and lush tropical hammocks, this unique park just minutes from downtown Orlando is perfect for observing abundant wildlife or cooling off on a summer day.
4. Melbourne Beach, FL- This is my favorite part, this is a world of true Florida appeal with beach, nature, and recreation. Gorgeous white sand beach with the blue ocean. You will never get tired of it.
5. Kennedy Space Center – The epicenter of humankind’s greatest adventures. I would bring my friend here too because it’s very interesting, unique, and educational. Brings you closer to the space
6. International Drive in Orlando- it’s the heart of Orlando, which is almost akin to Florida’s version of the Las Vegas Strip, with lots of entertainment places, shops, restaurants, museums, and the tallest wheel on America’s East Coast.
7. Lake Eola Park -is a favorite among the tourist places in Orlando. It’s downtown, there are many shops and restaurants. It has its atmosphere with lovely swans.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Frankly speaking, there are lots of factors and people who encouraged and supported me, when I started my first business. The First factor was – my two Master’s degrees in Business and Accounting, which gave me a foundation and understanding of the business.
Second I read lots of business and entrepreneur books.
Thirdly I had support from my family, husband, and friends.
Forth is the US government and laws that allow you to start a business without stress and worries.
