We had the good fortune of connecting with Karma and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karma, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I needed a way to express myself in a way that didn’t feel too serious. I grew up in the church and didn’t have to much access to what my mom deemed “worldly music “ but one year for Christmas I got a radio. It changed my life! Dancing is really my first love. I danced for so long , at home all the way up to college. Me, my little sister Gelena, and a friend Jacquetta started Founded Teal Temptation Dance team at Coastal Carolina University. For years my now husband, then boyfriend Luniey Tune was an artist / super producer. I used to dance at some of his shows when he was producing for and performing with the Spiff Kidz. One day he was recording a group called The Juice Boys, and they were looking for a female artist to hop on their track Cruising The Streets out on all platforms to this day! Long story short they persuaded me to hop on and the reaction I received made me want to keep writing  and recording music. After my first performance there was no turning back, I loved it! The crowd reaction was everything!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve danced all my life and in school. One day I discovered I could express myself though words with music and not just my body. Music has been freeing for me. It hasn’t been easy balancing Karma the performer, wife, and mother; but music keeps me sane. I want to use my talent to be able to create a safe place for children to be creative, and express them selves. Once I have reached a certain notoriety I want to do everything I can to give back to our community and I know that starts with the children.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My number one place would be JeJu spa.. It’s a great place to relax and get away. I always go to Eg-yu revolving sushi and Korean BBQ, it’s so good. I love going out to the OutKast mural just because it reminds me anything is possible and here are always events there. ATL has so much free entertainment to offer in it’s parks, there is always so much to do! I love this city, they say it’s the new black HollyWood.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Peter Ramirez AKA Luniey Tune, The greatest most underrated producer and engineer I know! Luniey Productions is where it all began!! I am eternally grateful!! Also shout out to the @Queens_ofatl ! I look forward to seeing these ladies change the rap game!
