We had the good fortune of connecting with Karion Blanton ( CHEF NOLA ) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karion, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m born and raised in New Orleans, La. My culture and where I came from definitely has had an major impact on my values and how I move thru everyday life. I come from a back ground of very strong & creative women… all most definitely in love with the kitchen. I learned from the best my mom and Grandmother. Both instilled in me high values and ambition. Being raised by great women and motherly figures has most definitely lead me to wanting to care for & feed everyone I encounter.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Meet Self taught New Orleans Cook. Chef Nola specializing in creole southern cuisine, although there’s no limitations to what I can get in the lab and create . Nothing but art, soul, and culture! Ever since I can remember, I was always interested in mixing ingredients to make something new. Growing up, I realized I had a gift for cooking, creating and hosting, and decided to turn my passion into a thriving career. Pretty Chef’s is a well-known Catering business in the metro atlanta area, always exploring new cuisines or fresh cooking methods. our recipes are unique and delicious, and our services are simply unmatched. Check us out!!

What sets me apart from other chefs & creatives is we all have our own unique print what I create in the kitchen each and everything will always be uniquely made (there will never be a duplicate) greatness can’t and won’t be duplicated and I think every artist should feel this way.

I am most proud to be a young successful business owner. My plan is to expand beyond my own imagination. I plan to open my food truck this upcoming year it is almost ready for the grand opening be on the look out early 2022. I am so proud to have sustained a thriving brand all these years. We’ve came a long way thou there’s more to come.

Hard work !! Determination!! Drive !! That “I gotta make it mentality” is how I’ve made it this far !! I can’t thank God & the universe enough. Without my family and their continuous support i don’t know where I’d be. I am truly thankful for my village.

You know the saying nothing comes to a sleeper but a dream? Well that’s partly true. Except I make my dreams my realty! ‘ and to me YES, that is easy. Manifestation is real. Your dreams are just waiting on you to put that action behind it. Using your will power to make it happen.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my go to places to eat is 1st Jamaican country kitchen, Capital grille, Pappadeaux, New Orleans Daiquiri, Neyows, Gabes, Gumbeauxs, kabob land, Divans, pirates boil. Strip club food is the best “Kelz kitchen” at blue flame lounge & Magic city kitchen is bomb too. Cheetah is an all time favorite!
Bqe, toast, Old vinings inn for brunch !!!
I’d also take them to the aquarium, bonfire, and the botanical garden also where ever Mr. IHostParties (Lil Mike) himself is hosting at for the weekend.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband & my grandfather. Both have been a major part of my why & how. I’ve always had a love for food & the kitchen. Back in 2016 my husband said people would most definitely pay to eat your food… and that I should really start a catering company. No lie I’ve been deep in ever since, and he had been such a great motivator & supporter ever since.

My grandfather on the other hand has always been such a hard worker he has taught me over the years to always strive for the best and be the best at any and everything you do and touch! He is an inspiration to me for many reasons.
