We had the good fortune of connecting with Karina Salazar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process that was put into Galactic Vogue Beauty came from the inspiration of my own photography style. From photographing myself as if life were on another planet, from being bullied as a kid, to just wanting to fit in but never really could. Accepting life and its flaws, to creating something that brings you a piece of mind. 

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Practicing photography along the years has made my brand into what it is today. The creativity comes from within and the experiences along the way. Nothing worth having ever comes easy that’s for sure. As a new business owner it definitely has come with its challenges. Galactic Vogue Beauty comes from the inspiration of my photography work, imagining another world where we live in but it is not exactly the same here as it is on earth. Our skin is pink, blue, or purple, and glittery. I have created a cosmetic brand from past and current work. A challenge is completely normal, without challenges how can we learn in the long run? As an an emerging artist, I still want people to understand and know that photography for me has helped me cope with many things, it has always been my place to go to for peace and fun. Anyone can take pictures but to feel good and feel like you’ve accomplished something after capturing the perfect shot or series of events, that’s when you know you’re a true photographer and with the art that you create that alone can inspire you to do something more creative.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ponce City Market, The Marietta Square, The Battery. But there’s always something fun going on somewhere in Atlanta GA. That’s just a few places to start with!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The biggest shoutout is to Jesus. I truly believe that he sat me down one day and said, “So this is what you’re about to do and I’m going to walk with you while you do it, it will not be easy but if you trust in me then you will see what I am talking about”.
