We had the good fortune of connecting with Kanitra Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kanitra, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My brand is successful because the products provide an experience. We offer excitement, things to share, and I provide a personal touches to events, movie nights, snack time, whatever! This isn’t just your regular popcorn. You’re likely to find a cookie, pretzel, wafer, or some type of surprise in the bag. I am most successful because my customers believed in me. They gave me ideas, shared the popcorn. Even the smallest things like a repost or shout out has contributed so much to my success. I couldn’t have done it without people believing in me.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My profession is making people smile! Every order gives me the opportunity to share my snacks with friends. Every box that ships across the country I feel like I’m making someone apart of my circle. It’s really personal to me and that is why making gourmet popcorn so enjoyable for me and easy. KD’s Popcorn reached where we are today in sales today by word of mouth. That’s the best form of advertisement. By telling someone you’ve had this amazing popcorn and share a little, you’ve helped our business grow. We’re most proud that the popcorn has reached a small community in Korea! Someone purchased the popcorn at Iwi Fresh Farm Oasis in Atlanta, GA. They sent a care package to Korea. The recipient shared the popcorn with someone else and now it’s resulted in multiple sales in Korea. What set’s us apart from the next is the personalized service. If you have questions or an idea, we take the time to give a phone call to consult with the customer to bring things to life. If there’s an event, we ask for colors, themes, etc to collaborate with the ambiance of the event.
The only challenge is keeping up with the demand at this point and postal delays due to Covid-19. One pain point in our business that we’ve learned is to ship early.
We want the world to know that every order is specially made in small batches. It’s not about the sale. It’s about sharing amazing snacks with the world. The purchases support a mother and her dream. The brand supports freedom.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend was visiting the area, I’d take them to Atlanta Breakfast Club and grab some amazing breakfast. We would definitely order some KD’s Popcorn for a midday snack or stop by Iwi Fresh Day Spa to get facial and grab the KD’s Popcorn off the shelf at Iwi Fresh Day Spa.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Soooooo, there’s this young lady down in Killeen, Texas that first saw my popcorn on social media. She inboxed me and said she wanted some popcorn. I had no bag or boxes to send her the popcorn, but she cashed app me and we made it work. She gave me a shout out on Facebook and it grew so that I had to get a website. I get an overwhelming amount of support from Outcast MC from state to state. Also, I’ve been recently influenced by billionairepa on Instagram. He definitely feeds my soul daily with positivity and encouragement.
