Meet Kamry Steger | Advocate for disabled youth and financial specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kamry Steger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kamry, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I am most proud that I could create a life to where my children have the mindset that they are limitless. Through traveling, giving them the best education, and just providing an environment to show them that the world is theirs, it’s given them so much hope for the future. Especially having a child with special needs, it brings me so much joy to have that ability.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the founder of Steger Agency LLC. I provide a number of services under this platform including financial planning, brand strategizing, and my personal favorite, my organization (H.I.P.S.- Hidden In Plain Sight) to aid in the betterment of disabled youth. My passion has always been to help and serve, with the main focus on children with disabilities. I created H.I.P.S. after having a child at the age of 19 who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. I wanted to provide a safe space for special needs children and their families to access resources and information to ensure their child has everything that they need to flourish, after realizing my daughter didn’t have that. There aren’t enough people in the world creating lanes that are accessible to individuals born with disabilities. I’m going to ensure that I leave a mark on the world that changes that. I fought through postpartum depression, high functioning depression, and anxiety (all professionally diagnosed) after having my daughter, and she gave me the strength I needed to turn my pain into a bigger purpose.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a Detroit Native, born and raised, and if you ask anyone from the city they’d tell you to come to Downtown Detroit! From the Riverwalk that continues to hold the #1 spot for waterfronts in the country, to the many historical museums, and of course the several upscale restaurants, Downtown Detroit is the place to be. And if you want a break from the fun Downtown, hop on the Lodge and find you a Coney Island on any corner of the city, you won’t find them anywhere else like Detroit!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom has always been my #1 supporter, even when I didn’t believe in myself so I owe every bit of credit to her.

I also want to Shoutout 1% Better Nation, an organization founded by Keyon Clinton out of Detroit, MI. His organization was founded on the principle of empowering and changing the perspective of individuals to become the best version of themselves and ever since I’ve been involved it’s done exactly that.
