Meet Kameron Corvet | Singer-Songwriter & Guitarist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kameron Corvet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kameron, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
There are a few things that I think have made me effective as an artist, but being early and on-time is the first that comes to mind.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Grammy Award-winning artist, singer, songwriter, guitarist, and actor who has written hit songs for artist like Toni Braxton, Case, Freddie Jackson, Angie Stone, and more! A song I composed “Don’t Make Me Wait,” recorded by Sting and Shaggy would become a global hit charting at #1 in over 14 countries, winning them a Grammy in 2018 for Best Reggae Album. I recently released a new EP, Kathy’s Basement, and I’ve featured an acoustic version of the song on it. I’ve gotten to this point in my career by being dedicated to my craft and the particular vision I have for my art. This road has not been easy for a variety of reasons, but I can truly say that I am proof that if you stay true, you can accomplish anything. It’s so important to be persistence and open to the different routes it may take for you to get to your destination. I’ve learned that being a good person and staying true to who you are makes a difference in the industry. Above all, I want to the world to know that Black music is comprised of a multitude of textures and sounds, including mine. What I bring to Black Music is important!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If one of my best friends was in Atlanta town, we’d go to The Little 5 Points/Inman Park area first; Barcelona and Bar Taco are favorites spots of mine. We’d have to also go to West Midtown for a bit of fun. Marcel, JCT and The Painted Duck are all cool places to hang out. Oh and I can’t forget Ormsby’s and Little Trouble. High Museum is also a great destination particularly if Jazz is playing there. We could hang out at Café Intermezzo and people watch on Peachtree. We’d close the night partying at Jonny’s Hideaway or El Bar on the late night.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother Kathy definitely deserves credit and recognition in my story but I’d shout out to my publicist, Jackie O. Asare.
