We had the good fortune of connecting with Kamariah Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kamariah, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
First, I would like to say that my idea of success is very different from the typical definition of success. I don’t measure success in wealth, riches, or materialistic things. I feel that the world can sometimes distort our views or ideas of success. My life and the direction of my brand shifted to a higher level when I created my own definition of success.

Success to me is making a positive impact on the people and spaces I’m called to, while allowing myself to flourish spiritually, mentally, and physically. With that being said, the most important factor behind my success is knowing my purpose. Everything began to fall in place the moment I decided to fully accept the woman God created me to be. Doing things with intentionality and purpose is what helped tap into this definition of success. Now that I am fully aware of my purpose, I can boldly be myself regardless of the room or platform. Purpose allows me to take authority over everything I do whether it is in business, or in the workplace. Purpose allows me to make decisions that are aligned with my brand’s identity. Purpose allows me to unapologetically be me.

Authenticity sets me apart from people that are in the same spaces as me. I have found that there is so much power in just being me. There is only one me. Doing business as my authentic self attracts the people who need to hear my voice, find value in my products, and connect with my brand. I do not deviate from my purpose. It is literally the key to my success.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the creator of Cocoa Butter Heals… The Podcast, founder of Klothed with Grace, a Brand Accountability Coach, and most importantly a lover of God’s people. My podcast is for creators, my clothing brand is for bold business women, and I coach women who work a 9-5 while trying to manage work and family while building a personal brand. I currently work full-time for one of the top marketplaces in the world while staying grounded in my faith and business.

What sets me apart from others is my desire to see people operate out of a place of wholeness and purpose. It is my goal to help others tap into their God-given identities so that they can do everything with excellence and boldness. I genuinely care about impact over profit. I am in business to serve others.

I got to where I am in business by deciding to go on a healing journey. It may sound crazy, but it’s so true. In the past, I allowed my childhood experiences to put a cap on my capabilities as an adult. As I took the time to heal I began to see the possibilities of my future, rather than the pain of my past. I got to know the me that has purpose instead of untreated wounds.

This was not easy by any means, however, it was absolutely worth it. I birthed three businesses after the process and developed a relationship with God that still blows my mind each and every day. I overcame my challenges by doing the work to heal with God. I overcome challenges in business today by continuously fueling my relationship with God.

A major lesson that I have learned is to trust the process. I’m still learning this. When I find myself getting frustrated I think about the definition of process. I think about how everything in the world must go through some type of process in order to fully arrive. I would say the most important lesson I learned is to make God my CEO. He gives me the grace to do multiple things. None of this would be possible in my own strength.

I want everyone to know that every business I created and will create starts with the intention to fill in a gap. I’m not in business for myself. I’m in business for others. My podcast was created because my audience asked for tools and strategies to heal. My clothing brand was created because women around me asked me how to look and feel beautiful. My coaching business was created because my very first client fell in love with the look and feel of my brand and wanted to pay for my help.

I want the world to know that there is so much power in being you. There’s people waiting to hear your voice. There’s people waiting to see your content. There’s people waiting to invest in your services.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m currently living in Phoenix, Arizona. The scenery here is beautiful. I would recommend hiking a mountain and sitting outside during the sunset. It’s an amazing sight to see.

As far as food, I’m not going to lie to you. I’m from Chicago and I feel like the food is not that great in Arizona. If you like brunch, however, there’s plenty of great brunch restaurants. I’d reccomend the Lola, LoLo’s Chicken & waffles, and Brunch n Sip.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I would like to first dedicate my shoutout to God. God truly deserves all of the credit for my success. I gained clarity on every aspect of my life when I decided to lean into Him. I would also like to highlight the fact that I was blessed with family and friends that support me and expect greatness from me. None of them question my abilities or my successes, they are always waiting for the next best thing from me. They have faith in me. One person in particular I want to give special credit to is my Step-father. He introduced me to entrepreneurship at a very young age and to this very day, I implement the tips he gave me in all of my businesses.
