We had the good fortune of connecting with Kam Ballard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kam, what inspires you?
My children inspire me. I am their first mentor. I aim to conduct myself in a manner that they can take pride in and potentially aspire to emulate.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
b.c.e. Custom Shoes designs unique footwear for Sororities and Fraternities within the Divine 9 and some Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU). What sets us apart from other companies is that we offer several custom designs that cater specifically to these organizations. Our shoes range from formal to athletic wear. We have recently added cowboy/cowgirl boots. You will not find another shoe store with an extensive Greek shoe collection, such as b.c.e.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friends were visiting for a week, I would ask them to meet me at the airport with their passports. I would rather spend that week exploring abroad.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to Shoutout my husband, Shannon Ballard. He is a very intricate part of b.c.e. Not only is he contributory in the success of the company, he is my rock. His presence and encouragement has been instrumental in helping me navigate challenges and maintain my confidence. When I doubt my abilities, he reminds me that I am a force in this world.
