We had the good fortune of connecting with Kalena Cacho and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kalena, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I honestly didn’t see myself seriously starting a small business until one day in December 2020 I realized that I love small businesses and supporting all my friends that do have them, so I figured why not turn my passion into a business too!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So I own an artisan chocolate covered strawberry business and what sets me apart from others that also do is that I do strawberries in more than 25 flavors. Fruity pebbles, ferrero rocher, pumpkin spice, matcha! The possibilities are endless. I have to say I am grateful because the stress I went through starting up was minimum. I had a really good supportive group that bought from me instantly. One thing I would want the world to know is that this business is really a part of who I am, growing up was crazy and whenever there was dinner there was always dessert that made everything feel whole again. I love making people happy and this is a great avenue for that.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh my goodness we would brunch at The Place 2 Be in Hartford CT, thrift any local shops, get a coffee at Silk City in Manchester CT, thrift some more. If it’s a weekend we would go the all the pop up shops on Main St in Manchester and then grab dinner at parkville market in Hartford.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to say the friends I have who did follow through with their business goals and some that even left their jobs to pursue it inspire me the most. They made me feel that I really was capable whatever I set my heart on to do. Also my husband was very supportive of it since he himself is a small business owner too!
