We had the good fortune of connecting with KaAsia Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KaAsia, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I know whether to give up or keep going based on the how the world is taking a turn. I’ve grown up in poverty my entire life, it wasn’t until I became an adult that I realized what exactly poverty is and how I can change the circumstances not only for myself, but my children, family and community. I will not give up because I have to pave the way for those coming behind me. I have to keep going because what is there for me if I turn around and go back?

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Life of Lucid was birthed in 2018. Our original structure was servicing clients from behind the chair. Wigs became a product of ours in 2019 when We invested in our education to learn how to make the wigs using the sewing machine. What sets our company apart from others is we are an actual manufacturing company. We construct each and every unit from scratch. We can guarantee our quality. Every unit is made Glueless and made with 100% Virgin hair that can last more than 12 months with proper maintenance and can be styled in various ways using various methods. I am most excited about the growth of our company. I am a business woman first, so I look for different opportunities I can bring to my company and those around me who are in my line of work.
I am here today because of my determination, consistency, quality of products and service.
The journey to where We are today took patience and discipline. The road has not been all bells and whistles.
An obstacle we faced during Covid was not being able to receive our inventory in a timely fashion. It hindered us from supplying the demand. I learned that under no circumstance can we run out of inventory, we have to keep items in stock.
The world needs to know that Life of Lucid is paving the way for those who are coming behind us. We are making a way for the younger generation not just in our community but in other communities around the world. As we learn, we apply to our company and we have it in our plan to teach and employ those through the apprenticeship program we have coming in the near future.
Our units are made not only to make women look good but FEEL good about every aspect in their lives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Trenton is conveniently placed between two major cities, Philly and NYC, with a whole lot to offer. There are some dope eating establishments here like The Big Easy, The Food Bar and Grill, and Skil-lit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Those who deserve a shout out from me is God most importantly for giving me the strength and confidence to make this work. My husband who is my partner- he makes my job easier he is hands on in every aspect of the company. My clients definitely deserve a shout out because they continuously support my movement. I also would like to give a shout out to Johnna Sabree for molding me for success
