We had the good fortune of connecting with Justice Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justice, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Oakland, California. A lot of people say if you can make it out of Oakland you can make it anywhere. While I may have been raised in tough neighborhoods, my mother made sure I didn’t see tough circumstances. I was very well taken care of, some may even say spoiled, until she went to prison when I was 14 years old. I entered the foster care system and slowly began a path of destruction. Lucky for me, I was smart enough to turn my life around right after my 18th birthday. I became a mother almost 2 years later and haven’t looked back. I live to leave my children a legacy they can be proud of.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always wanted to be an artist! Like someone who draws or paints beautiful pieces, I just didn’t have the talent. I have horrible handwriting and can’t draw a nice stick figure to save my life! I began taking pictures first, that’s my first love, to capture beautiful things since I couldn’t draw or paint them. So when I first found resin, I was nervous about whether people would like it, it turned out they loved it! Then I found I could create beautiful pieces and it came so naturally and also was so much fun, I knew I could finally be as artistic as I had dreamt as a child. I’ve made many mistakes and still do. I’m still learning as I go. But I’m so in love with this journey I’m on.

The biggest thing I want people to know about me is that I have a heart of gold. I literally started selling my art to finish paying for my nonprofit(Justified Moments Youth Community Center) in the heart of the pandemic. I want to teach youth life skills, emotional intelligence and entrepreneurship.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since living in Georgia I’ve found tons of stuff to eat and do! My favorites are walking the Beltine, going to Six Flags, hiking Stone Mountain and Arabia Mountain, and of course Little Five Points and Underground Atlanta are the place to be!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am without the 3 most important ladies in my life. I’m going to shout them out in the order they came into my life. So first, of course, is my mother. My first cheerleader and the the Queen who gave birth to me. Next is my first born, the one who made me a mother, she is the reason I changed my life for the better, the reason I have to go on when times get tough and I think everyone is out to get me, I know my baby got me. And last but not least, is my wife, the Queen who stole my heart. She’s been beside me every step of the way. Not only being my cheerleader, but my right hand, secretary and so much more. I couldn’t do all that I do without her.

These 3 Queens shaped me into the person I am today. Because of them, I know how to love myself and love others.
