We had the good fortune of connecting with Junie Han and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Junie, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
Hi! Well, I’m currently a licensed esthetician and full-time college student. I’m in my second year of undergraduate education in pursuit of a degree in nursing. Upon completion of my program, I aspire to become an aesthetic nurse. A few of the services I plan to provide for my clientele in the near future include Botox injections, facial fillers, and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections. My professional end goal is to establish my own medical spa, with franchise opportunities to follow. To one day see my name on something I created through hard work and dedication would bring me a great sense of accomplishment and joy. I feel happy just thinking of it now, so I can only imagine how I’ll feel when it comes to life.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Han Aesthetics is my slowly, but surely, growing small business. I offer a number of skincare services such as customized facials, chemical peels, microneedling treatments, as well as various brow services. I’ve personally struggled with severe acne since junior high. It’s one of the reasons why I decided to become an esthetician. Knowing how something as small as a blemish can really impact one’s self esteem has fueled the passion behind my work. Through seeking ways to help myself, I learned how these methods would be useful for others as well. As the saying goes, if you look good, you feel good. My goal is to ensure my clients feel as beautiful as they look.
I was initially reluctant to the idea of starting my own business, as entrepreneurship can be a daunting endeavor. The multi-step process of starting a business, investing in yourself, putting yourself out there, and staying consistent, isn’t easy. I’ve learned that being your own biggest advocate is one of the most important aspects of this entire process.
For quite some time, all I could focus on was the possibility of failure. However, I eventually accepted the fact that there would inevitably be bumps along the way. Growth isn’t possible without these times of adversity. And for that, I’m really grateful. As I continue to grow and adapt to an ever changing work environment, I’m immensely proud of the progress I’ve made and I look forward to seeing what the future holds.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m definitely a foodie, so eating your way around Atlanta is definitely my favorite way to enjoy time with friends. First, I’d take my friend to the Beltline to walk around and get a taste of our city’s atmosphere. Then we’d stop by Ponce City Market. Ponce is my favorite because there’s so many amazing restaurants to dine from. After dining, going to the rooftop to enjoy the activities is a must, especially since Ponce offers the best view of the city.
Also metro Atlanta offers some of the best culturally diverse food options and you can find it all on Buford Highway. There are so many small businesses and restaurants to support and they end up being some of the best food experiences you’ll have.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my friends and family. I’ve made it as far as I have due to their amazing support. They have always been my biggest supporters from the beginning. When I feel discouraged or unsure of myself, they are there to uplift and guide me. I’m always grateful to have them.
There is, however, one individual that has had the greatest impact on my career path…my mentor, Renee Dries. Renee is an amazing aesthetic nurse that I met a couple years prior while working together at a medspa. In the end, the challenges we faced on a day to day basis strengthened our professional relationship. I thank her for inspiring me to further my education and helping me to discover my interest in aesthetic nursing. She has shown me that with faith and perseverance, anything is possible and everything is obtainable.
