Meet Julien Simon | Venue Manager at The Westside Warehouse

We had the good fortune of connecting with Julien Simon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julien, what do you attribute your success to?
For us I think that the most important factor behind success is really being committed to what we are doing. Since we run our venue with no employees, we have to make sure that we are on top of everything from making sure no inquiry goes unanswered, to constantly checking our space for possible improvements and general upkeep. This can be as small as repainting our walls on a regular basis and as large as deciding to undertake improvements or renovations with the goal of offering our clients a better experience. We try to never stop critically analysing ourselves to see where we can do better.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Starting out from the Antique business, this was a totally new industry with totally new challenges. It’s nice that we were able to combine the two businesses by offering clients the use of our antique furniture that was leftover from the antique store. That gave us something that set us apart from our competition, but we still had a long way to go in figuring out how weddings and events work and what to do and not to do. We asked questions to those that were willing to answer and decided to start building our brand around flexibility and uniqueness.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
#westsidebestside so I would definitely start off with a walk or bike around the new Westside Park! With all the delicious food on the westside, we would be fortunate to have a new spot to try out every day of the week! The north Georgia mountains are also a must-visit with some wonderful views and scenery to enjoy. I would have to wrap up our week together with a trip to the world of Coke, The Georgia Aquarium, and the High museums. All must-see if you have never been to Atlanta before!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my mom, Anne for being the best boss and leader I could ask for! Thank you for everything you have taught me over the years!
