We had the good fortune of connecting with Jovan PR Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jovan PR, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was honestly just tired of working for a company and feeling as if there was no room for growth or advancement
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I consider what I do art, for several reasons. The body is a work of art. Through health and fitness you can literally shape and mold your body into a work of art. Something thats so beautiful. I also consider what I do art because I dance in my classes. When I’m dancing I feel like a free spirit and I can be as open and creative as I want.
Even though I love what I do, it was not easy getting here. Along the road there are always people that try to discourage you and judge you negatively. That could be for several reasons. Jealousy, envy, or maybe they honestly just don’t understand what you’re doing for their natural reaction is to do against it.
I’ve learned that no matter what I had to keep going, continue to believe in-myself, and be unwavering.
My brand represents FUN! Everybody on the earth could benefit from some form of exercise but most of don’t move our bodies enough. We get lost in the cycle of working and paying bills that we really don’t have time for ourselves or put our health last on the priority list. That’s why I make exercising FUN. Everyone loves a good time. And if you can make fitness feel like a fun time, you’ll capture more peoples attention and interest.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would get in a gym session. Hopefully there would be a good fitness trainer hosting a class here when they were visiting and we’d check out a class. After class, we’d grab a bite to eat down Georgetown. Just walk around sight seeing until we decided what we wanted to eat. We’d visit a shooting range and have fun shooting different firearms
We’d visit MGM casino to drinks, play games, and dance
I love comedy shows. I’d see if there’s a funny comedian in town during their stay and we’d catch a show.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom will always be the first person I look back on and credit with my success up to this point.
Sean Smith was a cardio instructor that I looked up to 15 years ago and he donated over $1,000 of equipment to me to get my business started.
Gym Jonez is my current mentor that guides me through business deals
