We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Rhett Noble and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Josh Rhett, why did you pursue a creative career?
DEFINITELY for the MONEY! (…obvious sarcasm lol.) Someone once said if you wake up and all you can think about is being a performer…then you should be a performer. I’m pretty sure I was an entertainer the second I arrived. Once I figured out I could aid in other people escaping their everyday struggles, I. WAS. HOOKED. I truly had no inhibitions as a child, always eager to tell a joke, sing or even dance on the table of my late parent’s local restaurant. Luckily, I was blessed with a mother and father that encouraged my love of the arts. The arts bring people together, strengthening a community’s character. The arts form connections that transcend all. The irony is…I feel the most like “me” portraying someone else. It’s as if delving into another person’s story shines a light on every aspect that was suppressed. I am my happiest acting, and I feel truly blessed to do what I do.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been a professional performer for 20+ years. (Wow. That just made me feel old to type!) The majority of my early career was spent in musical theatre and stage work. I studied musical theatre and film at the University of Miami before moving to New York City. I was blessed to perform there and all across the country for many many years. To this day, I love the thrill of performing live in front of an audience. There’s nothing like sharing that energy and experience in real-time with others.
When my beautiful Mother was diagnosed with cancer for a 3rd time, I was put into a position where I needed to stay put out of necessity as her caregiver. This shifted my focus from theatre to on-camera work. The last several years of my career have been a whirlwind of new opportunities and a new found love for TV, Film and Voiceover work.
I am thrilled that fate has brought me back home to Georgia where the TV/Film industry is booming.
So much of this industry is about “right place, right time” – talent can only get you so far. Your work ethic, ability to grow and adapt and the support of others is all key. I’ve never been one to settle, always striving to better myself on screen, on stage and in real life. However, I wouldn’t be anywhere without those that have believed in me. All it takes is ONE person to truly make a difference in your life.
Most recently, I wrapped shooting a role opposite B. Simone in the new Bounce TV comedy FINDING HAPPY. Prior to that, I had the privilege of performing opposite Bruce Willis as “Officer Richter” in what may be his final feature film, THE WRONG PLACE. This fall I will be playing a tenacious role opposite Academy Award-winning Susan Sarandon and three-time Academy of Country Music Award winner Trace Adkins in the new FOX drama MONARCH.
I am blessed to have these experiences and the chance to do what truly makes me…me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a sucker for a good coffee, a stiff drink and a delicious meal! Some of my favorite places are THE NOOK (the wings are delicious!) DANCING GOATS (I love their cold brew – sugar-free vanilla with a splash of heavy cream), HENRY’S for a cocktail underneath the trees and any of the wonderful local theater companies bringing the arts back to the stage here in Atlanta! Finish off with a stroll through Piedmont Park for people watching, and you’ve got yourself a helluva time.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to my late parents, Lamar and Janet Noble. Without their love, support and encouragement, I could have easily never followed my dreams.
