We had the good fortune of connecting with Joseph Talbert Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joseph, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
The habits that I feel helped and helps me succeed are the willingness to learn, asking questions as much as possible and just being authentic with everyone. I go about life with the notion that knowledge is how you succeed in anything. You must have a want and the willingness to learn to move forward and grow as a person and also with that you must have the right attitude as well. I feel that if you are authentic and humble that people are more likely to want to teach and pass on knowledge to you.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Life is exciting and I find the future exciting as well. I think my first big push into this space was my last few years of college and getting a job at Best Buy in the Digital Imaging department. There I met people who were on the same path as me but much further along than I. I took that as a chance to pick people brains day in and day out, asking questions showing sample work and most of all learning as much as possible. Things like this isn’t easy, finding your way in this world. I usually say once you find what you love purse as much as you can because you will regret later in life. Life wasn’t meant to be easy is what I recently have finally overcome. Ups and Downs are what make you as a person and those challenges are what make you, you. If there is anything I want people to take from this is that you should always try your best, always find a way to succeed because life is too short to not take risks and have fun.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well first we are heading to midtown for some brunch at Cafe Intermezzo and once we are full take a stroll through Glenlake Park in Decatur to walk off all the food. After that for Dinner grab a burger at Yard House in Atlantic Station. Nothing too fancy but these people are what make Atlanta my second home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Many people along the way have shown me things that I use in my daily life to be a better person. First my parents for showing me that nothing is too hard if you put your mind and your best foot forward. When I was younger growing up in the US Virgin Islands I struggled in school and my dad would always sit me down and say that he knows I can do it but the ball is in your court. I take that as you create your own future, you are the sculptor of your own piece of art that is life. Next I would like to shout out Mr. Jabbar Thomas my mentor in college, he showed me how to take my ideas and mold them into works of art. He was the one that helped me around my first camera and from then on I was in love with the profession. Lastly I would like to shout out my friends and long time girlfriend Gisele if it wasn’t for them pushing me on a daily basis I wouldn’t be the man I am today. The nights I would run ideas by friends like Ashod Cooper, Wayne McKarkle and Javane Stewart just to name a few. I can go on and on about people who have motivated me and have pushed me to create the man I am today but to everyone who has been there for me I say thank you a million times over
