We had the good fortune of connecting with Joseph Duffey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joseph, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
Truly, the most difficult decision was to be uniquely me. Everyone has moments where they decide if they are going to be like someone else or themselves and unfortunately a lot choose someone else. I found that my life could only be lived to the fullest extent if I was in the driver seat or on a skateboard for that matter. Jumping off the cliff of being You is one of the scariest events in life because you never know how people will react or what you’ll discover. However, once you’re over the hump, you’re life and your gifts will surely shine through.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I currently work with UPS inside of one of Atlanta’s hubs. I came from working in the stores which allowed me to develop a plethora of verbal communication and interpersonal skills. I learned that connection are everywhere and when people begin to speak, listen and take notes. This has become a staple in my life as I travel to different places and skateparks, meeting unique and different individuals. I make it a personal goal to look for value whether for myself or for others seeking it. Creative minds always look for different people and ways to go about something. So to have more like minds around you only helps to curate the process.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love being outside so the first place I’m thinking is the Beltline in Atlanta. They have great people, excellent food, and the best part old Forth Ward Skatepark. Shake Shack is hamburger spot that will definitely have our business. Piedmont park is an excellent place to picnic or just walk around and site-see so that would have to be next. Back to food, Big Dave’s Cheesesteak has to be one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to and my best friend will know it’s greatness! Lastly, if there is one thing about me I absolutely love pizza so Nancy’s pizza is a must for the bucket list.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to first give all thanks and Glory to my God. As the countless situations and opportunities, I have been shielded from and also put in the way of, made me who I am now. My family secondly, they have always been there for me even when my decisions seemed strange they always had my back and made sure I was ok when I was going through tough times. Lastly, a true friend, Stunt McCartney. He helped me to improve my skateboarding and begin to realize that I could just be myself on a board. After we met, my skills grew dramatically in a very short length of time. I had just found my brother from another mother.
