We had the good fortune of connecting with Joseph Cole and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joseph, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson that I have learned is to be patient. Success is not going to happen overnight. Everyday you have put in work and keep moving forward with your vision.
What should our readers know about your business?
I started Cleaning Inside Out in 2020 during the pandemic. I am also a CDL Driver and was laid off from work due to COVID-19. I was at home for a few months with no work and needed to find something to do with my time and earn income. I started working with a guy who owned a detail business and started to love the work. I have always been very passionate about cars, trucks, and boats and thought that this could be a great way to connect my passion with a career. After a few months working with someone else, I decided to venture out and start my own business. Since then, I have learned so much about being an entrepreneur. Cleaning Inside Out was a name that came from simply thinking about what I do as a detailer, we clean inside and out and our mission is to “Elevate spaces through the artistry of cleaning”. While my journey has not been easy, I am grateful for every experience along the way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would highly recommend Brickhouse and Bobcat Bonnie’s for brunch/lunch. My wife and I really enjoy those spots. We also would recommend checking out a fair or festival in the summer time. Wyandotte, MI is right off the Detroit river so there is always an opportunity to take a nice walk along the riverfront at Dingell Park. Wyandotte is also only about 25 mins from Downtown Detroit so you can also see the beautiful Canadian border across the river in Detroit behind the Renaissance Center. I highly recommend grabbing a drink from the Brakeman and ordering some chicken sandwiches and honey dunked biscuits from Penny Red’s which is right next door. If you’re really wanting to try some authentic Detroit style pizza, try Buddy’s or Shield’s. Our favorite spots for something sweet are Insomnia Cookies on Wayne State University campus and Melt N’ Dip in Dearborn.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my wife. I showed her the vision of what I wanted to do when I was laid off from work. She encouraged me and supported me through it all. Even in days where the money doesn’t look great or business is slow, she keeps motivating me to keep going. I love her so much!
