We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
That is a really interesting question. As humans each one of us on this vast earth are uniquely different. Our genetics along with our background, childhood and life experiences shapes us to be the individuals we are, and it affects the perspective we have on life and how we trail blaze through it. Grasping and understanding this principle has shaped the person I am today. As creators and business owners, you are the oxygen for the lungs of your business and it is the things that make you different that sets you a part and makes you one of a kind. Over the years, in applying the golden rule of treating people how I would like to be treated – I have honed my abilities to listen and understand different individuals and have skillfully learned the art of using my creativity to capture needs of business owners through my writing and content creation. Each of us posses our own unique gifts that at times may be criticized however nine out of ten of those gifts, is what will lead and contribute to your overall success – and open the doors to the opportunities you will receive throughout your life time as this has proven true for me. Always remember you are the author of your own story.
What should our readers know about your business?
Jordan’s Virtual Desk came to life right after the pivotal moment of graduating college in the middle of a global pandemic. At that time – I was 17, trying to figure out life as many of my fellow worldwide graduates at the time were doing also. I wanted to create a personal environment that would let me express my personal creativity along with providing services that would help the businesses in my community & worldwide while also helping and capturing the essence of the inspiring creative individuals behind each business and in March 25 2021 – that is what I did.
Here – I focus on helping businesses grow and flourish while maintaining and increasing brand awareness.
My business specializes in social media management, graphic creation and journalistic writing.
As a young person who’s growing in the transitional age of technology- I use my age to my advantage. I use the new software of our time daily to build, create and fulfill projects for my clients. No career path comes with a free ride – there will be a lot of bumps in the way and I have experienced many overall however life is about overcoming challenges and set backs. Understanding this has helped me professionally and in my personally life.
I truly believe age is not a factor as long as you are committed to continuously learning and willing to grow from your experiences along with learning from experiences of others around you.
As I continue to move forward, my main goal is to shine a light on the brands that are positively affecting their community, interesting individuals who are making an impact, important topics that effect our community, and the things I love.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is one of the most inspiring cities, their is so much life happening at one time. So many different individuals with all different life experiences. I personally love exploring small record shops with an iced chai latte in hand and finding music from the artist I love. One of my favorite record stores, comeback Vinyl sets the perfect tone for a good day especially for music lovers.
I also suggest “The Works” where one of the best BBQ restaurants called Fox Brothers in Atlanta are located.
Ponce City Market is also another great place to visit with many shops and restaurants to choose from.
I personally love how they highlight entrepreneurs and artist there giving them the space to show their one of a kind pantings, accessories, clothing, and much more.
I also love walking The Belt Line on a golden brisk fall day and ending the night with good conversations over ramen from Jinya Ramen Bar.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Their are so many individuals that have walked this road called life with me that I could never personally pay back for how they have truly provided unconditional kindness and love. My parents have provided me with a space to experience life and grow from adolescence to now an adult. They have patiently listened to me as I have asked many questions, as I learn and grasp life from each of their experiences. In recent years – they have taught me that not only is it okay to be myself but also how to respect and stand up for myself and for others. Many of these lessons have shaped my outlook on life as it has prepared me for where I am now. At the start of 2020 I had the opportunity to graduate early, and as a result I was faced with many decisions. It was by my Father Keith’s generosity and his willingness to take an investment on me with his resources that he worked very hard for – I was able to get an education which has been one of the contributing factors to the opportunities I have now. I am who I am today because of my parents Nikki and Keith and it is by their example that I have gained a true sense of confidence in myself and who I am in the recent months,
I would also like to give a shout out to my dear friends. Finding true friendships have come as a challenge to me. Mature friendships where the kindness that I give is fully reciprocated is something I have been searching for – and have been blessed with these last few years. Friends who have shown up for me, stood up for me, respected me, talked well of me at all times in private and public and have showered me with just as much kindness as i’ve shown them and much more.
