We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Beckum Loiten and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, how does your business help the community?
My work supports both individual and relational healing, with a focus on helping people build deeper, more intentional connections with themselves and each other. As a therapist, I work with individuals and couples to strengthen emotional awareness, improve communication, and create relationships that feel safe, supportive, and aligned.

In my couples work, I help partners move out of reactive cycles and into more grounded, conscious connection. I guide couples in understanding their patterns, expressing their needs with clarity, and rebuilding trust where it has been strained. This work has a direct impact on the health of families and communities, as stronger relationships create more stability, emotional safety, and generational healing.

As a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200), I integrate mindfulness and body-based practices into my work to support nervous system regulation and deeper self-connection. Through yoga, meditation, and intentional movement, I help clients reconnect with their bodies, release stored tension, and develop a sense of presence that extends beyond the mat. My yoga offerings, including workshops and classes, create accessible spaces for people to slow down, sit with themselves, and tangibly practice self-compassion.

Together, my therapy and yoga work contribute to a more holistic approach to wellness. I support people in caring for their mental, emotional, and physical well-being, while also fostering healthier relationships and more connected communities.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Healing with Jordan (Mind Over Matter Wellness & Consulting, LLC) is rooted in the belief that a soft life is built through intention, emotional awareness, and strong boundaries. I offer therapy, couples work, and wellness experiences that support people in reconnecting with themselves while also strengthening how they show up in relationships with others. My approach blends traditional talk therapy with mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and yoga-based practices, creating a space where healing feels both grounded and embodied.

What sets me apart is how I integrate mental health and holistic wellness in a way that feels accessible and culturally attuned. I center the experiences of Black and Brown individuals and couples, and I create spaces where people feel seen without needing to over-explain their lived experiences. My work is not only about insight. It is about helping people practice change in real, tangible ways, whether that looks like setting a boundary, shifting a relational pattern, or learning how to sit with themselves without judgment.

I am most proud of the spaces I have been able to create. From therapy sessions to workshops, there is a consistent intention for people to feel safe enough to be honest and supported enough to grow. I am especially excited about expanding my couples work and integrating more yoga and mindfulness-based offerings, because I see how powerful it is when people can connect both mentally and physically to their healing.

Getting here has been a journey that required trust, patience, and a lot of internal work. It was not easy. Building a business while also doing the emotional labor of this field meant learning how to care for myself in deeper ways. There were moments of doubt, moments of burnout, and moments where I had to redefine what success looked like for me. I moved through those challenges by leaning into community, investing in my own healing, and staying connected to my purpose.

One of the biggest lessons I have learned is that sustainability matters. You cannot build a soft life on top of constant overextension. Boundaries are necessary, both in business and in life. I have also learned that authenticity will always carry further than perfection. When I show up as myself, I attract the people and opportunities that are aligned for me.

What I want the world to know about my brand and my story is that this work is deeply intentional. It is personal. It is about creating spaces where people can slow down, feel, and choose themselves without guilt. I am building something that honors both softness and strength, and I believe that when people are supported in that way, it changes not only their lives but the way they move through the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A week in Atlanta with me would feel like moving through culture, comfort, and connection, with each day flowing into the next. I would start us off at Coffee Was Black on Auburn Avenue for a grounded, intentional morning, then ease into the history and energy of the Sweet Auburn area before spending time walking the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail, taking in the art, music, and movement that make the city feel alive. We would carve out space for stillness with a visit to the Atlanta Botanical Garden, letting that be a soft, restorative moment in the middle of the week. I would take them to Kirkwood for a cozy morning at Evergreen Butcher and Baker, followed by a yoga class at Sati Yoga & Wellness so they can experience the grounding, community-centered energy that I love. We would spend a full day exploring Buford Highway, starting with LanZhou Ramen and trying different foods along the way, really taking in the diversity that defines the city. Another day would be dedicated to the Westside, walking the Atlanta BeltLine Westside Trail, stopping for drinks, and enjoying how vibrant and social that part of Atlanta feels. I would also make space to tap into the deeper cultural roots of the city by spending time in Bankhead and supporting local Black-owned businesses, letting the experience feel intentional and connected to the community. To close out the week, we would head to Marietta to walk around Marietta Square, grab food, and enjoy a slower, more relaxed pace. What makes Atlanta special to me is the range it offers, from vibrant city energy to quiet, grounding moments, all within the same space, allowing you to experience both movement and rest in a way that feels full and balanced.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This journey has never been mine alone. It has been shaped, held, and strengthened by the people and spaces that poured into me along the way.

I would like first to honor my community of women, especially those I trained with during my yoga teacher training. That space gave me more than a certification. It gave me reflection, accountability, and sisterhood that helped me see myself more clearly and step into my voice with confidence.

I also hold deep gratitude for my mentors, supervisors, and fellow therapists who have guided me in this field. Their wisdom, honesty, and commitment to ethical, compassionate care continue to shape how I show up for my clients every day.

My clients deserve recognition as well. The courage it takes to be vulnerable, to unlearn patterns, and to choose healing is something I never take lightly. Being trusted with their stories is an honor, and their growth continually inspires my own.

I want to acknowledge my husband and my personal support system, who remind me to stay grounded and care for me in the same ways I encourage others to be. Their presence allows me to do this work from a full and supported place.

And finally, I give credit to the earlier version of myself who chose this path. The version of me who stayed open, who kept learning, and who believed that softness, healing, and intention could exist together. She laid the foundation for everything I am building now.
