We had the good fortune of connecting with Jon’tue Cushion and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jon’tue, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe taking risk is very important and necessary. One of the risk I took when I was opening my salon suite was opening with only 3 clients. I had no idea how I was going to pay the rent or keep my business open. Taking that risk forced me to believe in myself, work really hard and put myself out there. I have over 300 clients now and hair skin & nail vitamins Vita Glo & Gro that has sold out in the 1st couple of weeks and my business is still growing. One of my favorite quotes is “He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.” – Muhammad Ali

What should our readers know about your business?
When I started out in the beauty industry I was really excited. I started working in a salon and unfortunately it didn’t work out about 4 days before Christmas. I was really discouraged and thinking about returning back to the corporate world. But I pushed through decided to take a risk and open my salon suite. I only had three clients so I would wake up at 5am drive for Lyft until 10am then go to the salon suite and work some nights until 12am. Now I have more control over my schedule and can spend more time with my son. I learned to never give up, always keep an positive attitude and never let anyone control your destiny because it’s yours.
