We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonet Williamson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonet, what is the most important factor behind your success?
As a self-employed Pro Makeup Artist and Content Creator the most important factor behind my success aside from talent has been my ability to connect with others. How you connect with people in this industry is extremely important. I show up as myself always and treat everyone with kindness and respect.
lright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Makeup is my art. It has allowed me to express my creativity and connect with so many people along the way. Working full-time as a pro makeup artist in New York City is tough until you find your stride, tribe, and learn to flow with the ups and downs. One of the main challenges as a self-employed person is that nothing is guaranteed. Each day you’ll have to motivate your self to stay on top of everything and keep striving for more.

One of the best lessons I’ve learned along the way is that it’s important to celebrate even the smallest wins because those will keep you motivated to make it to the bigger goals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I’m quite new to Atlanta, I moved here a year ago from NYC but I do have a list of faves. If my bestie came to visit I’d first take her to Ponce City Market for some day time fun and yummy snacks, Make a dinner reservation for Apt 4B because the food and vibes are always good there. The DJ is stellar. Then end the night dancing at Rock Steady.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The first person that comes to mind is my good friend Kisha Augustine. She’s been such an encouraging and uplifting person in my life since I’ve known her she’s always advocated for my success. She’s also one of the kindest and most giving humans I’ve ever met.
