We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Knox and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonathan, why did you pursue a creative career?
Growing up, I have always had a large imagination. Imagining scenes for movies, music videos, photo shoots & much more but I never was able to display my ideas. I thought I could not due to me believing I was not a creative or artistic individual.

In my last semester of college, I decided to take up photography just as a hobby & my hobby turned into a passion.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
With Knox Photography, I always tell potential clients that it is more than photo shoot. It is an experience. Here at Knox Photography, not only do we want you to fall in love with your photos, we want your experience to be unforgettable. We want you to feel like family by the time your session is over.

I want the world to know that I love to create. I love how we can turn an idea into a masterpiece. I want the world to know that we can bring your vision to life here at Knox Photography.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For me, I love the areas “Krogg Street Market” & “Little Five Points”. Some times I will go there & just walk through the areas. Seeing the design of the buildings, the graffiti, the food, seeing the style of every one & just the atmosphere. It inspires me to create. My favorite place is “Crave”, it is a restaurant in Little Five Points. It is my go to place that fits any mood I am in. I can go there by myself or with friends & enjoy the music & the always fresh food.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to my father, Douglas Knox, for even letting me use the family camera to practice on my craft. I want to give another shoutout to my mentor, Tommie Armistead Jr.(TEAPhotography), for helping me from the beginning. Tommie was the first person to help me understand the basics of photography and the business of photography.

Last, but not least, I want to give a shoutout to my Knox Photography team. From the beginning my friends & family have been there for the creative meetings we call, “white board meetings”, Pop Up Shops, being models for me & just encouraging me. It would not be a Knox Photography if it was not for my family. Thank You all so much.
