Meet Jonathan Cruz: HIIT Logic Creative Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Cruz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonathan, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
To lead with love and not with fear. You have a choice everyday to make decisions out of love or out of fear. I learned a long time ago if you love what you do, you don’t lose sight of that passion and you work daily towards growing that passion you’ll succeed. The challenge we face is being clouded by fear. The fear of not being successful, the fear of not being profitable, the fear of not making the right decision. This mentality handcuffs many entrepreneurs due to the fact they make subsequent decisions based on these fears as opposed to the fire, passion and love that led them to this opportunity in the first place. If you lead with love you can’t go wrong. Doing the right thing is always the right thing! There are somethings bigger than a paycheck and the answer isn’t always found in the numbers.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always had the ability to build/grow a business, but it wasn’t until HIIT Logic that I was able to grow a passion. We had recently moved to the rural community of Tumalo in Oregon and my Wife decided she wanted to start a High Intensity Interval Training studio (HIIT Logic). We found a location and there was no looking back. As the community supported us and we started to grow (eventually opening studios #2 and #3 in surrounding communities as well as a national online platform) we realized we knew we weren’t just providing a place to workout. We were becoming an important part of the community and their health. Not only were we a place that was welcoming of any fitness level, we also were the most challenging workout available. You never left our studio wanting more. We became a place friendships are formed and like minded individuals support each others health journey and people loved it. There were challenges. Most recently the pandemic, but we pivoted and always stayed 2 steps ahead. We were doing outdoor workouts before they closed studios down, we developed a HIIT at Home platform before we knew how long the pandemic was going to last. Having a clear vision, doing things the right way and making decisions with our members best interest in mind helped us thrive. As things are now opening back up we realize we were part of a fascinating time to be in business and are very proud to know our model can grow in any situation. The pandemic has shown us how important it is to be healthy and how we should be promoting health and not fast-food. We learned that we aren’t just a place to workout but we are part of the solution to healthy communities (physically and mentally). We look forward to growing our brand across the United States and having many more communities join our story.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our “City” is just North of Bend, Oregon (Tumalo). If your looking to dive into the outdoors there’s not many places that beat Central Oregon (Smith Rock, Tumalo Falls, Blue Pool, South Sister, Elk Lake). If your looking to grab a great coffee try Tumalo Coffee House or a Beer at The BITE. If you’re looking for great conversation, kick ass people and a killer workout, you’ll have to get down to HIIT Logic . My Wife Katie Cruz deserves the lion share of the credit to our success. She taught me that community and support is a key ingredient to success. Earlier I eluded to success isn’t solely found in the numbers and this past year has taught us that. A key ingredient for HIIT logic surviving, thriving and growing through the pandemic was our community of members & supporters. Her philosophy that you come for the workout and stay for the community is our stickiness and part of our growth plan. She does so much as a business partner, Mom and Wife its truly inspiring.
