We had the good fortune of connecting with Jon Jon Tongco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jon Jon, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe that the most important factor behind JT Entertainment Production’s success is our Filipino community within Georgia. These are the people who I call “my family away from home”, who never gets tired in supporting all of our events and concerts. Many Filipino organizations support my events by promoting my concerts. They do this by selling my tickets to their community. In return for their kindness, I assist them during their events. An example would be the Turo Turo event that took place in Atlanta for Filipino Heritage Month, which occurred last October. I assisted them by providing audio equipments and also providing entertainment ,such as bringing bands and singers to their event.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In my business I produce concerts and work as a DJ to manage lights and sounds. I started this journey in the year 2019, when I did my first free performances at parties with just my guitar and a small amplifier. That is when I decided I wanted to spice up parties by bringing music and lights to them. I realized that the best way to do that, was to become a DJ. So I began investing in lights and sound equipments, such as beam lights for stage lightings and spot lights. After a while of working as a DJ, I decided I wanted to take it a step further and produce concerts. I bought all of the necessary equipment such as front of the house speakers and stage monitors. Finally, on my birthday last April, of 2023, I produced my first concert which featured a well known artist from Manila, Marc Tupaz, of Shamrock Band. As of right now, I have produced a total of four concerts for this year alone. For these concerts, I had invited three Filipino artist who are well known in the Philippines as a treat for all my fellow “kababayans”, who have missed Original Pilipino Music since living here, the United States, for so long. Many people are concert producers and Djs, and what sets me apart from them is that I am the only one handling all the lights and sounds set up, while most concert producers typically have multiple people working to do that. That is also what sets me apart from other DJs. UnIike many DJs who are only in charge of the music, I do lighting directions along with producing the music. I also belive that being a DJ is much more than just managing the sounds, it’s about keeping the dance floor alive and giving the people a chance to have fun while dancing to the beat of the music.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Before i bring them here in my Hometown Columbus Georgia, I will first take them to a tour in Downtown Atlanta. The Georgia Aquarium which boast its one of the biggest aqaurium in the world, The Coca-cola Museum, Atlanta Zoo and of course bring them to State Farm arena to watch the Atlanta Hawks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Id like to dedicate this shout out to my wife , Cherrie. Who always supports in whatever endeavor i venture into. Shout out to Peter Gillar of Grey Sunday band and to Angelo Pineda, son of Arnel Pineda of The Journey Band
