We had the good fortune of connecting with Johnny Juelz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Johnny, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Alright, let me spin this one for you. Stepping into the world as a DJ, you realize the vibe isn’t just about playing tracks—it’s about crafting experiences. Starting as a promoter and being the heart of the party I saw how some experiences or songs could really change the energy in the room. As an MC I knew that interacting with the crowd would also move the energy of the crowd. I saw a void in the industry as most DJ’s could not do both or didn’t have to do both. I wanted to control the turntable of my career, mixing my passion for music with an entrepreneurial spirit. Every gig, every beat drop, it’s like setting the tone for an unforgettable night, and doing that under my own label felt like taking the lead on the dance floor of life. It was about building a brand that resonates with the soulful energy of music and the electrifying pulse of the crowd. Plus, there’s this sweet spot in managing your own gigs, choosing your projects, and directly connecting with those who vibe with your sound. It’s all about creating those epic moments and memories, one beat at a time, under a banner that’s all yours.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Diving into the art of DJing is like stepping onto an endless journey of sound, where each set tells its own story, and the turntables become the pages. What sets me apart in this vibrant tapestry of artists is not just the tracks I play, but how I play them, intertwining my unique essence with each beat blending songs together you would never think to hear together. The advice from my mentor Dj Vitillaz ( Juan Solano) that I’ve lived by has not only shaped my performances but also the philosophy behind my brand and lifestyle.
1. **Not every set will be your best set** – Embracing this has taught me resilience. In the beginning, there were nights when the crowd wasn’t feeling it, or I wasn’t in my best form. Instead of letting these moments deter me, I used them as stepping stones, learning from each experience, refining my craft, and understanding that growth often comes from the sets that challenge us the most.
2. **Always bring a backup** – This lesson was learned the hard way when technical difficulties almost silenced a gig. Now, whether it’s an extra USB drive, a backup laptop, or additional cables, being prepared for any scenario has saved me from silence more than once. It’s about ensuring the show goes on, no matter what.
3. **Have fun and read the crowd** – The magic in DJing lies in the connection with the audience. I’ve learned to adapt my sets, reading the energy of the room, and tailoring the musical journey to the vibe of the crowd. It’s this fluid dance between DJ and audience that creates unforgettable nights. Having fun with it, letting that joy and passion for music reflect in my sets, has been key to creating genuine connections.
4. **Be Different and make an impression** – In a world where everyone can access the same music, it’s not just what you play but how you play it that leaves a mark. I’ve embraced my uniqueness, blending genres in unexpected ways, and experimenting with sound to craft sets that tell a story. It’s about leaving a part of me on the dance floor, an impression that lingers long after the music stops.
My journey here wasn’t easy. It was filled with late nights, early mornings, doubts, and challenges. But each obstacle was a lesson in disguise, teaching me persistence, creativity, and the importance of staying true to my vision. Overcoming these hurdles involved a mix of self-belief, support from mentors and peers, and an unwavering passion for music.
The world should know that my brand, my music, is more than just sound—it’s an experience. It’s a testament to the power of perseverance, the beauty of blending different worlds of music, and the joy of sharing it with others. My story is one of unwavering passion, a love letter to the art of DJing, and an invitation to join me on this sonic journey!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely, let’s kick this off with the right rhythm! First off, a massive shoutout to the incredible talents in the DJ world who’ve been instrumental in my journey – Stay Liifted, Blue Diamond, Venez, DJ Lunee, DJ Blactino, Babey Drew, EU, Arroyo Live. Shoutout my Family for making me listen to a diversity of music growing up!! I would like to give a special thanks for my mother who instilled my work ethic and tenacity. These artists aren’t just masters of their craft; they’re pioneers who’ve inspired me, pushed me to elevate my game, and shown me the ropes in a scene that’s as challenging as it is exhilarating.
Each one of them, with their unique styles and unforgettable sets, has contributed to shaping my vision of what it means to truly connect with an audience. From Stay Liifted’s seamless transitions to Blue Diamond’s electrifying energy, Venez’s deep and soulful mixes, DJ Lunee’s innovative beats, DJ Blactino’s powerful fusion of genres, to EU’s groundbreaking performances, they’ve all played a part in my story.
But beyond the decks and the late-night sessions, there’s a deeper gratitude that resonates through my journey – my gratitude towards God. I cannot express enough how much I thank Him for the blessings, the strength during the low beats, and the guidance through every crossfade in life. My faith has been the bedrock of my resilience and ambition, and it’s with a heart full of thankfulness that I recognize how divine grace has played the ultimate headliner in my life’s gig.
This shoutout series wouldn’t be complete without acknowledging the silent supporters, the crowd that vibes with us, and everyone who’s ever nodded their head or tapped their foot to the beats we play. The journey of music is one of connection, and it’s these connections that fuel our passion and keep the records spinning. So here’s to every soul that’s been a part of this beautiful ride – you’re the real MVPs in the soundtrack of my life.
