We had the good fortune of connecting with Johnnie & Jaylon Gordon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Johnnie & Jaylon, what do you attribute your success to?
I’d say the most important factor behind our success has been the slogan that we live by, “Faith x Work”. In this industry, you hear a lot of no’s before you hear a yes and that can be tough on a lot of people. Keeping our faith and continuing to work has contributed to our success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As many know, Jaylon and I are both actors and recording artist, what sets us apart (especially as siblings) is our closeness. Like, Jaylon and I got this ‘twin telepathy’ thing and we’re not even twins. That chemistry tends to plays out on screen when we do projects together and it bleeds through our music. Let me give an example, at the BMF premiere, me and Jaylon walked in and Mr. 50 Cent made a joke about us coming to the premiere together, because he had zero clue we were real brothers. After we told him, he started talking about our on-screen chemistry as Young Meech and Young Terry and why it made sense. I think that was the moment when we realized we do have something special. We’ve done a lot of projects together before BMF, but that was the first time someone mentioned our chemistry to us or talked about it publicly. To make things even sweeter, Mr. Randy Huggins, the creator of BMF, called us “Two of the dopest actor siblings in the game”, so yeah, big shoutout to Mr. 50 Cent and Mr. Randy for helping us realize that we have pretty dope chemistry. Moments like that is why working alongside my brother is the most exciting aspect of my career.

Let’s see, how did we get to where we are today…Hands down, our parents cultivating our dreams and Faith x Work. It’s that simple. If you want the results, you gotta believe in yourself and do the work. Nothing is easy, however anything worth having is worth working for. This is the mindset Jaylon and I use to overcome the challenges and some of the no’s that caught us off guard. One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned along the way is, “What God has for you, is for you.”

Hmm, what do we want people to know about us… I’ll let Jaylon answer this one. Alright…Well, I would like people to know, this is only the beginning. Although we’ve been doing this since we were four and five years old and have worked alongside some amazing people, this is only the beginning, because God is not done with me and Johnnie’s story.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well for the most part, me and Jaylon be at the house. If we’re not working, we prefer to be chilling out at home. But, If we had to put something together…It would look like this, After spending the first day hanging out at Six Flags, we’re heading to Paige Bistros in Austell for a bite to eat. Day two we’re hitting up Slutty Vegan for lunch and spending the day at The King Center. Day three is all about downtown ATL: We’re visiting The Georgia Aquarium, The Coca Cola Center, The Centennial Park, and grabbing a bite to eat at The Hard Rock Cafe. Day four we’re going to Lenox mall and Benihana. Day five, we’ll grab some pizza from Twisted Pye. Day six, gotta catch a Hawks game. Day seven we’ll go sight see at the Braves and Benz Stadium, then grab some lunch at Paschal’s Restauarnt and Bar before heading to the airport. That’s all we got.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our first shoutout goes to God for giving us the vision! I was three years old when I told my parents, “I wanted to be IN the TV like Zach and Cody.” Our parents never talked to us about the entertainment industry at all, so I wholeheartedly believe that was God. Our next shoutout goes to our parents for being obedient, cultivating our dreams, and supporting us in every way possible. Of course we have to shoutout our team and everyone who believed in us! Oh and we can’t forget about our videographer! Man shoutout to RTC Visuals for always bringing our visions and ideas to life in a super dope way.
