We had the good fortune of connecting with John Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my brand is consistency. Can’t stop won’t stop. I believe this assuredly creates steady progression.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is generally based in realism with abstract aspects. From drawing and painting to making beats and writing songs. My physical art background is based in portraits, and learning how to draw people is one of the more difficult tasks in art. I think this allowed me to stand out in a lot of rooms throughout my life. It definitely wasn’t easy, nor was learning to engineer or produce. Easy or not, I believe being consistent in what you do, with attention, and determination will garner anyone better results as they continue to pursue their craft.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly I’m kind of an inside person but a few places I enjoy would include the Painted Pin, Atlantic Station, K&K Soul Food or Soul Good if it’s the weekend.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this to my parents, everything I am and do is inspired by my parents from art, to music, to business and entrepreneurship. They did a wonderful job teaching me and providing opportunity for me to learn and grow.
